If you like a Ford (lets not count Dan and Jamespuddle:D), then this is the place to go for a good deal.

Good luck moggy, let us know which you decide on and why.

As for haggling I,m not good either, I tend to walk away and let the wife get her claws into them.

Somwhere on here theres a signature that says something like .........."If they don't cry when you make the offer then youve offered too much".......:D

The Fabia's only £35 a year to tax? That is brilliant! Very MSE!!

Meanwhile, on to the important part......... what colours did you like? :D:D:D

Metallic Artic Green Jeannie! It is a georgeous colour.:D:D:D Looks silver for the most part but with a really slight soft green hint or even slightly blue in different light.

However, I have been researching the best prices in true MSE fashion on the web (carquake included but thanks for that) and if I go for the 1.4 diesel estate then the metallic paint option the total price for the Fabia 3 (I could go on the Fabia 1 or 2 for less but the interior is VERY tacky and doesn't even have a glove box just a sort of shelf/cubby hole where it ought to be) it brings the price to £12,363.00 (best on-line quote and better than local dealer) but they are then stating nothing further off for the scrappage deals. It is £14K with the local dealer and then £2.5K off so still £11.5K and I have managed to get a price of £12,980.00 on the Ceed by going for the CRDi LS instead of the SW7 limited edition (same car but no parking sensors, no privacy glass on boot, no hydrophobic glass [:rotfl::rotfl:]) :D and they actually have that in the most wonderful Monsoon Blue or English Pewter or even Tempest Grey whereas the limited edition only comes in Silver Storm, Black or Abyss Blue (which is a bit dark for my liking). Actually thought it was a bit of a cheek to make the special edition in metallic colours only and then charge extra for metallic paint as well!!!!!!!!

I have never had parking sensors: so would probably not miss em (but I bet that if I go that route I shall end up dinging the back because I have said that:rolleyes:). The privacy glass is not especially useful to me as we don't have a massive crime problem around here, and "hydrophobic glass" just has me in stitches because I keep imagining it foaming at the mouth like a rabbid dog!

Now, allowing that my favourite of all the colours is the pretty Arctic Green there is a whole lot more car available with the Kia, the interior makes the Skoda look like a shed (:o) and I don't think the money saving (OR the colour) actually makes the Skoda worth doing.

However, for all that it will probably take me another fortnight to make my mind up (and I may still chicken out and look for a £2K banger until I know what I am doing house wise:rolleyes:):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm not that decisive when I'm parting with £100 - so you can imagine the difficult I am having with this one!:D The first HOUSE I ever bought only cost £14.5K:o

Cracking! I shall tell the salesman that and then get him into a half nelson till he breaks and agrees to my terms:D

I'm not sure I shall truly haggle - just show the dealer the on-line quotes and ask if he wants to sell me a car

    Thats what I would do.
Whats the biggest car you can get for 5k with scrapage?

    :eek::eek::eek:

I haven't actually looked, but I suspect is is VERY small and my kids have legs like giraffes so not a great idea:D

Aw c'mon Inactive - be a girl and get excited over the colours .. :D

Sorry Jeannie, I just cannot get excited about the colour of a car, any will do for me ( not black ) as long as I don't have to pay the scam charge for metallic paint, now that is being MSE... :D

I agree about the scam charge for the metallic paint - but tbh I won't be doing this that often so will treat myself for a car I really like (in a colour I really like:o).

For the most part the only flat colours the manufacturers offer these days are white and red! White is totally useless on our filthy country roads and I HATE red cars with a vengance !! Just such a loud "look at me" colour. Have been offered orange: you can imagine my reaction to that:D

Nobody seems to have mentioned that there's such a thing as an estate version of the c'eed. Did you find out about it at Kia? If you're looking at a Fabia and a c'eed at the same price, I'd buy the c'eed. 7 year warranty?! If it's a reliable car with peace of mind you're after, surely you can't do any better. The c'eed is also in the small family car class, whereas the Fabia is smaller, being a supermini.
Use the prices you have from brokers on the net to talk the dealerships down. Bring printouts and make sure you're comparing 'like for like'.
