my partner dropped the above laptop

fires up fine

access all files fine

can see the wireless network fine

wont connect to wirelss network though

have checked order in which it connects and our wireless is the preferred connection and set to automatic

says limited or no connectivity

error on first start up says

"error when unpacking program code LP5"

any ideas? apart from dropping it again to see if it corrects the problem :D

Try reseatting the wireless network card, I think on the 600 its under one of the flaps on the underside, if its not then its under the keyboard.

is that windows telling you that error or are you using a 3rd party wireless tool?

did anything happen to the laptop before it stopped working, drop/fall, virus etc

I suggest you run a disk integrity check. Go to StartRun, type chkdsk /r and hit [Enter].

it appears just after windows has loaded, well the start up screen so guess windows might still be loading... also when the laptop goes into sleep mode it takes for ever to wake up again (bit like me in the mornings :-) )

Even if the 'desk' is just a coffee table it still counts as a fall. ;)

I suggest you run a disk integrity check. Go to StartRun, type chkdsk /r and hit [Enter].

chk dsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process......

do you want this volume to be checked next time the system restarts y/n

    off to restart again :-)
