I can't on here because I would be divulging confidential information and therefore liable for dismissal if I was reported.
But I will confirm I have seen it happen - that is fact.

That is what someone else quoted and as we've said mate, Barclays manager and others, that although banks may do it - they have no right as it would break the banking code. BACS guidance is clear so no reason for the banks to take such a hardline approach.

Who do you work for, can't be Barclays or Abbey I think we know they wouldn't bat an eyelid, I can vouch for HSBC. HBOS have too much going on right now to worry about their customers and that covers Lloyds as well. So my guess is RBS - being they are the biggest bunch of cowboys going....?

Hey, the reason I never posted is because I don't have the internet at home at the moment (how stoneage of me) and also I'm not looking to convince you of anything, its up to you whether you believe what I say or not :)

I'm also not saying it gets auto flagged up, but if someone happens across the money being paid into the account in the wrong name (say its the first salary payment) it *may* get blocked as if it turns out that money has been paid into the account in error then its not the customers money and should never have become part of their estate. Its in the T&Cs of your account that the money in the account has to be yours and if the payment isnt yours then it raises eyebrows, especially if something else potentially unusual is taking place on the account.

Of course its extremely rare that it happens, I'm just saying that it may. But as I say, its up to you whether you choose to believe it or not :)

No it could not! Mate you know I usually agree with you but on this one it's just wrong.

What is so hard to grasp here? You have managers telling you they cannot - unless they suspect fraud then they have no right to do it! Notice crispy hasn't came back and substantiated this?

Can you? Do you work for a bank? Do you understand AML? It cannot and will not be blocked! Prove me wrong - please be my guest!

Ive worked at rbs for 7 years in different branches/departments and never seen accounts blocked or closed for this said reason.

Banks dont give a s**t whos money goes into the account. As long as its not money from proceeds of crime etc. (to my knowledge)

The only time it would get blocked if the money was credited to the account in error and the sender asked for the money back.
Im an ex employee RBS Group

You quoted me - i'm one of the ones that totally argue FOR you guys, i.e. the banks don't care! Its the others that are saying 'accounts can be blocked' and we're asking why and how, because it isn't right and banks just don't do this!

Thanks by the way, we now know that the main banks DO NOT do this, as we always stated!

So that covers RBS, HSBC, HBOS, Barclays & Abbey - none of these major players will block your account! We've had that confirmed from staff
