  • You have more left after debt repayment than my DH birngs home per month. :rotfl:

No excuses now for not getting yourself well ahead in the game if that is the true picture. :D

I'm embarassed now. the cash we squander is shocking. :o:o

That is literally the true picture unless I have forgotten something mega but I don't think I have. Some figures are rounded up slightly like mortgage payment was £404.58 but then we dropped to SVR but kept payment at the same level hence the OP. Utilities is bang on the payment NPower want from us because we are in credit, mobiles allow £10 over the contract payment for incidentals and fuel allowance is generous.

I really think we can do shopping for under £250 for the 4 of us, its coming into the colder weather when soups, stews and rolls are popular.

It does mean sacrificing our takeaways that cost £112 during august but I will start looking out for mystery shops

I like looking at other peoples SOA - thanks for posting it LP.

I hate the next cards the interest rate is shocking! That was one of my first debts to go. I only use cash now at Next, don't trust myself to do otherwise. :o

£112 in takeaways? Wow can we come around for tea? :rotfl:

Shocking isn't it. I could rattle off a million excuses about pregnancy and feeling ill but really the basis is laziness. I could of had a few pizzas frozen or something. Realy our spends in August were shocking, we both rarly use cash which means its all traceable and trackable.

Next is the reminants of OH debt which was 8 times that only a few months ago. It will be gone probably next month :)

Last weeks plan pretty much got ignored with OH being out of action and this month wage will be lower as he is not working and no idea what his sick pay situation is like at work but we will not be on the bread line.

My focus is feed 4 on £250 a month I should be able to walk it, I can cook and I even make a mean pizza when I am not being a lazy mooo.

It is really but we are all guilty of it. I try to make quick and easy things like pasta when I feel like that. We have a asda takeaway curry on a weekend evening but other than that we tend to stay away from them now.

you've done well to get the NXT so low then - Interest rates like that are scarey. I phoned them up last week as my credit limit was £3.5k and I reduced it to £500, How daft is that 3.5k!

HM pizza is yum, better than takeaway. I really hope you achieve your target.

Anything else happened with the house? What's the next stage ?
I can't be bothered updating this anymore
  • I wasn't trying to shame you.I am a true believer you spend what you have if left to it. I know i always seem to unless it has my full focus, and we certainly can't afford to.

If you got yourself organised, within 2 months you could do full and final payments of RBS and Next, and that would be great. (Assuming here you can overpay)

If your DH is on board, i am sure you can do it. :D
  • Iris - nothing happened with house. We have seen two we like, one is in Dundee and needs ALOT of work and is on at offers around 130k, the other is in a villiage called Wellbank about 2-3 miles away and is offers over 130k. Obviously stamp duty kicks in at 125k so that has an impact on our options. We spoke to the bankl on Friday about getting our AiP sorted so we can offer if needed. Problem is we don't have 13k kicking about in savings to use as a 10% deposit while this place sells and the bank has already said they would bridge the gap for a month or so but no more so we need to get a move on ASAP. I think all we can do for now is get a savings plan in place to get some actual cash savings behind us rather than everything into the mortgage and hope that either the house we like sits on the market for a while or mortgage deposit requirments change and we miraculosly end up having the savings to pay deposit. Other option is drop the price, as we are in scotland our home information pack contains the mortgage valuation and we are already priced 5% under that and the same price as a similar property needing modernisation, interest has been steady but minimal recently, the whole market just seems flat and not sure shaving another 5% off would do a great deal. One to be considered further I think. I think OH next limit is something stupid like 8k. Can you imagine spending 8k is one go??

Cha - I think thats the issue we spend because 'well we have the money' or 'we work hard' or a million other excuses and reasonings. RBS is a balance transfer card at 0% until september 2011 so I think we will just let that tick over and then clear this time next year. Next will be put to the sword next month ideally, OH gets paid 2 weeks today so hopefully depending on his wage that will be gone.

OH being a stroppy git, he is never here for the nursery run so why on earth is he interfering in the way I do things and why I leave the house at a certain time. Fr example nursery is about a mile and a half away but along a duel carriageway with a 50mph speed limit so we drive and don't walk. I leave the house 15 mins before nursery which gives me time to get kids fastened in the car drive, zip along the road and park at nursery, drop DD1 in, drop DD2 at my parents and then get myself to work on time for 9.30. Well technically I have flexi time so I arrive whenever. Today OH decided he was coming too but cannot drive due to pills. Thats fine because i'm on a day off today anyway but had planned to head straight to shops because DD1 is 4 soon and we need gifts plus party bags for kids at her party etc. OH offered to get them brekfast while I had a shower, I said they had already had cereal and went to shower, came back to discover he had made them jam on toast  They had already been washed, teeth brushed and dressed and you can imagine a 2 year old with jammy toast and the jam was piled on as well so it was all over her clothes face hands and hair, DD1 didn't fair much better TBH. So it resulted in a driping wet mummy having to strip and fling both kids in a shower at 7.30 instead of drying my own hair :( after that debacle i get them dried & dressed AGAIN and go to sit down with a coffee and a bit of toast and he is shouting from the hallway 'where are you, we are ready' only to find he had put the kids coats on and put them in the car at 8:35 !!!!!!. I fight to keep calm and say why out so soon, only a 5 min drive etc etc and he huffs about how he is a profesiional driver which is balls really, he drives a lorry from point to point in aberdeenshire/highlands which has absolutly no relation to taking a child to nursery in tayside. So i missed my toast because i can't eat and drive, i would get killer heartburn. Arrived at nursery about 10 mins early because we got caught a little in school traffic that starts at 8:45 and is usually cleared by the time I am leaving, nursery obviously still shut, no one around and its drizzly outside so we wait in the car. Two very impatient girls are bored, mum why we not going in, mum but mum but mum etc etc etc, not the best when I am already stressed out, have a migrain developing because of lack of coffee or food and i'm starting to feel a bit pukey like morning sickness. I start thinking that I might have to go to McDonalds for a brekfast before I go into toys r us, needs must and all that. Eventually we get DD1 into nursery and dd2 to my parents. OH then says oh my back hurts can you take me home before you go to the shops and he cannot possibly wait/stay at my parents/come with me as its just too uncomfortable.

I have taken him home, abandoned any idea of shops and ideally want to kill him. Apparently I am being moody and hormonal, he never does mornings so why am i mad at him for getting stuff wrong. hmm so why, ifhe never does mornigns and has no idea what goes on or needs to go on is he ignoring my rules and DOING WHAT HE !!!!!!! WANTS :mad::mad:

ok rant over, he is sleeping, I still have not had something to eat. I think i may smother him.

  • Sorry you had such a bad morning - but you have made me laugh! DH is quite similar. He's away at the moment and DD and DS have started secondary school so I know that when he is home he will start to interfere in our routine without having any idea what we do when and why!

I hope you've had something to eat now and have not smothered him this time!

    Best wishes

  • yeah i made myself toast, still fighting the urge to go into the bedroom and hit him with something very hard or smother him.

One point of interest today. MY MF date is June 2023 so 13 years away. Obviously this won't happen because 1 we will be moved and have a larger mortgage and 2 i will be overpaying loads anyway. I feel it's important to mention it because I took out a 25 year repayment mortgage in May 2005 so in only 5 years I have slashed 12 years off the projected term. I think thats a very important point to focus on.
Another point to consider, If i up my mortgage payment from £404.56 to £410 exactly ( and interest rates stay low) then mortgage will end December 2022 :) That is 150 payments away:):)

Plan for today is kill OH and dispose of his body then go fishing for my MS usernames/passwords and passwords for other things like survey sites. I considered doing something like avon or partylite but TBH I am just too lazy and we don't need the cash at the moment what we need is disapline and a firm footing in debt and mortgage overpayments.

OH Zopa loan can be overpaid and ends in May 2012 naturally. I would love to overpay but I think we should be focusing on a move more than anything, of course if the bank comes back and says nope to mortgage due to affordability then priorities will change and it will be a clear 100% of debt as quick as possible by any means possible including taking an additional income stream.
