    is Mr A asdas ??

Yes it is! They had the Jars stacked up for the last few weeks for £1 and I bought 3 to make up as sweet jars. Think I will go back and get a couple more to make sure I have enough, were only a few left last time I looked so be quick.

They only took 2 multi packs of swizzle sweets (love hearts, lollies, swizzle sweets and small packs of haribo star mix in a multi pack) to fill completely so an absolute bargain!

Will be making a chewy chocolate sweetie one for my brother for Christmas too when I have a scoot around for some sweets he likes in the pound stretcher type shops

it was in store. they were all inside the bigger one and wrapped in cellophane. tbh i didnt know what they were at 1st, just saw the price and thought the design looked nice so i pulled them open and realised it was a set of hatboxes!

One last question! Do you remember which part of the store they were in or what they were close to? I hunted high and low and couldn't find them unfortunately and I thought all the MSEer's had been in for them yesterday!

I think a trip to Asdas is in order , I could do with some of these jars anway I want to organise my cupboard , thinking about it I know a few people who would like the sweet jars - hope they've got some left
I'm supposed to be trying to save money this christmas but every time I read a good idea I think oh I'll make that perhaps I'll have to start writing the ideas down and save some for future christmas' lol
  • ask as many questions as you want!
they were near all the storage things, under the bed boxes, them clear storage boxes etc. also if your store does the same, they were up high on the shelf and they were turned on there side (lid facing towards you) so all you saw was a round disc

For people looking for storage jars, my mum told me that Tesco has Dowe Egberts coffee on offer at the moment. The jars they come in are fab. She gets through lots of coffee and I often have the jars from her once she's emptied them & they seal really well. HTH someone.
Will be looking out for those hat boxes. They sound great!

  • For people making Christmas cakes who've never done it before, Food Weighhouse type shops always start selling kits about now, they have all of the dry ingredients in, and instructions. My mam makes them from these kits every year, save having to buy big bags of fruit, whole jars of spice when you only use a pinch etc, then she feeds it with booze and ices it herself. I don't like Christmas cake but everyone else says it's delicious

  • I wish I'd bought a smaller jar for OH's sweetie jar present, was looking at these lovely kilner jars but they were all like 3-4 squids each, so I opted for the £1 clear cookie jar, but now I realise it'll cost a fortune to fill it with candy. I suppose it's better to spend more on the sweets than the jar though.

Home Bargains is starting to get Christmas stuff in! :j:j:j I had a big grin on my face when I saw it, people must have thought I was a bit strange. Picked up my OHs gaming mouse from the Post Office today too. It's getting close now :rotfl:

  • i have bought a dvd each for my little brother (10) and nephew (12) for their movie hampers; its a 3 disc boxset with fantastic 4, electra and daredevil in for £3.99. hopefully they will like them! i have budgeted £10 for the dvds each so they still have another £6 to go, but not sure what else to add in there?

sorry i've not read the whole thread so you may already have thought of this..... what about a pack of popcorn each (you can normally get a pk of 3 microwave ones quite cheap) - occassionally my poundland (sheffield) has them.

I am doing baskets of things this year (cost between 50p-£2 each depending on size - lined in tissue paper - was gonna be bath stuff but the more i read this thread the more i think i might do random things at the mo each ladies basket has:
2 botanics items (curotsy of £land and MSE)
3 tealights (lge packs in £land)
2 have an oil burner and oil (£land) the others have a small photoframe (£land)
a handmade soap (my local bath shop closed and i stocked up on bargins)
    a keyring
    a novelty pencil/ pen/ notebook

    any more ideas.......
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
