Little_Miss --- Saw some green red and white candy canes in morrisons today.
Iron Man - I buy for my side of the family which is 11
mum --- £30
dad --- £30
sister --- £10
niece 1 --- £10
niece 2 --- £10
step sister --- £20
step brother --- £20
step mother --- £10
cousin 1 --- £10
cousin 2 --- £10
cousin 3 --- £10
nan --- £15
grandad --- £15
so i figure that's £200 for my side and boyfriend pays for his. I also have a 5 year old who gets about £200 spent on him at Xmas
CHEESY! I don't buy for BFs family. MY thinking is if he wants to get there presents in December then he does his own shopping and he can see how much it costs. He does sometimes mention Xmas early if we have a big main gift to get for one of the boys but apart from that he leaves me to it and I dont shop for his side although I do make lists of things they have mentioned. That way he foots his own bill and its his own fault if he overspends. I do pay for our son though but told boyfriend if he doesn't start contributing something to bens gifts (he has brought one gift each year that costs no more than £30 each year and Ive done every birthday and Christmas for him by myself as well as £450 worth of bills each month!) then all gifts will be from mummy and santaTime to find me again0 -
Cheesy - You're no way unreasonable. My OH can't think about Xmas either as it's too early. Also we've both got vouchers from survey sites and work incentives etc so we're not really spending as such.
But we had a disagreement as I have a larger family, my OH is an only child so he didn't want to go halves on the presents as my family would "benefit" more than his. He only buys for his mum and dad, well and me. I had to prise the vouchers from his hand!!!! But like I told him, he'll "benefit" when my family get him presents. So you can't have your cake and eat it.
Anyway if your OH won't go halves, just tell him to get the pressies for his family himself. Maybe he'll learn about orgainsing Christmas before Christmas Eve!!!
Our 99p shop has cards and wrapping paper, also our Poundland and Card factory have started with the Christmas stuff:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

I can understand paying seperately if you have not been with you other half long, but if it's been a while or you are married with kids, why is it not combined. Why is it I buy this and he buys that, I don't get the I will bill him in December comments, do you not have joint accounts, are the OH extremely difficult, maybe I am lucky that mine is fine with buying early, we have saved up and have been buying since July, I mainly choose everything for family and run it by him, but he has a say in the kids presents.0

evening everyone,
can i join in please ? Done nothing for the last 2 hours trying to read all the pages ( up to 20 only), LOVING IT ALL SO FAR.
Not done anything much yet towards christmas only just getting around to thinking about it so need to get myself organised. I have so far collected £24 in saver stamps for the supermarket towards the food shop but thats it.
So i need to :
make a list of people to buy for
decide on a budget for each
think of ideas for each person
Think its kettle on and notebook out next.sealed pot member no :0812011- £306.68 2012-£304.36 2013- £387.44 2014 - £441.43

I'm going to get bits then nearer Christmas bill my husband! He's not interested in Xmas right now so when I come forth with all these lovely crafty presents that will save him hours of shopping I'll probably just get a little thanks, and thats it! Men!! And if he doesn't give me the money for them then he's for it!
Anyone know where you can get nice big gift boxes to make into hampers? I was thinking like hat boxes but can't afford much. I'm going to do a 'girly night in' box for them (12 & 13) but can't think of much beyond pyjamas, fluffy socks, maybe sweets and a little manicure set. Any age-appropriate ideas?
i got a set of 3 hatboxes that fit into each other for £3.42 in tescos they had loads in my store. the ones i got my mum are green with flock damask on themalso in green, but there was a hot pink with the flocked damask in black which would be more age appropriate
you could stick in a fleece to share or one each in the bottom box, or maybe if you could get some cheap personalised towels?
middle box could be pjs, socks, maybe a dvd?
smallest box could be sweets, manicure set, mimi make up sets? bath treats?

To add to hampers you could put in a cheap DVD, I was in my local Tescos and they had Grease for £2, Sleepless in Seattle for £3 so they are going in Hampers for various people. I did have to have a wee rake through but they are so cheap. I've also ordered some Dvds from HMV. I'm doing Movie hampers with dvd, popcorn, doritos or Pringles, sweets and bottle of beer or fizz or soft drink. I'm adding a couple of other things in them like cheap bath bombs and nail polish for a girly one and pack of playing cards for boys one.
Just need to find some cheap baskets, forgot to look in Home Bargains today, doh.0 -
