Thriftlady - ah the joys of metaphysical poetry - not the easiest to get stuck into but I in addition to the one in my sig (To his coy mistress - Andrew Marvell) I also like For Whom the Bell tolls - John Donne. Good stuff and apart from Wilfred Owen I am not much into poetry
sistercas - what's starting to worry me is next Saturday I have my daughters 1st birthday and christening and we are having everyone back to our house. Garden is like a tip due to fascias being overfaced etc, lawn needs cutting, everywhere outside needs sweeping, I have to move the toys from garden round to my kind neighbours garden, I have to shop for the food, clean the house, start the catering and help my mum make the cake.
Can you hear the panic starting to set in?! :eek:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning everyone :hello:
Didn't manage to post yesterday as day two of the holidays and the girls seem to feel that each day needs to be more action packed than the last.
Went to the farmers' market yesterday morning and stayed there for lunch then spent the afternoon at a secluded little harbour (it backs onto OH's office and no one uses it during the week). OH and the girls pottered about in a dinghy, the dog swam and I read my book (and threw 700 sticks for the dog).
Oh was supposed to be cooking last night but funnily enough he bought subways on the way home (bogof) and we ate them at another beach where we paddled until after 9pm.Lovely day but I'm jiggered this morning.
Have tidied up so far, fed the birds, emptied DW and made the girls' beds. OH is still in ours. One load of washing on the pulley.
No idea what's on today. Suppose it depends on the rain so it will either be a trip up to Glencoe and use our NT membership or games and and indoor picnic. The girls have just found some clay and are waving it in my face so that's maybe an option.......for their father. They are wearing tutus and wooly hats and have been leading the dog round all morning on a scarf lead.
OH is cooking tonight and is "doing something lovely with fresh duck eggs".
Delighted your appt went so well Jackie. :j
Hope the MRI gives you the results you need Halight. x
Congratulations to Taplad. :j:beer::T
Kjsam... glad your DD is feeling better.
Julietiff.. Hope your DD is better soon and congrats to your OH.

Long time half lurker here!
I'm so glad the heat has gone, I loved it during the day but it was far too much at night and am looking forward to a decent nights sleep tonight...
The annoying thing is that I normally just get through my veg box in a week but because I've been eating so many salads, I've now eaten everything veg wise (bar some potatoes!) in a four days! The next box doesn't get delivered until Tues so a top up shop is needed or a freezer raid. Summer eating is so expensive!
My cut and come again lettuce as died from the heat too so I'll need to buy another one...
I've officially gone from being know as tight around my friends to being thrifty! Hurrah! Now hopefully they might take some tips from me :rotfl:

Good morning everyone!
It's a lot cooler here today which is nice. I washed & pegged out all of DS2's washing from his trip last night and it's dry now :T so pleased with that. The normal 2 loads plus some bedding are almost done so I'll get it all on the line soon.
I'm going to Asda in a while to get some bits & bats and also going for a look in Home Bargains & another cheap freezer shop in town for cat food. I buy on offer wherever I see it. It's a pain sometimes but does save money :money: DD finished college yesterday for 9 weeks so she may come with me.
Dinner this evening is pasta bake although it may morph into pasta saladHope that everyone is ok & cooling hugs where needed xx
Edited to add: Taplady Well done to your son!0 -
