Job done! How could anyone seriously consider a Dyson after that!

Its so easy to empty my Dyson, I don't mind doing it often:confused:

The DC25 knocks spots off the old DC07 anyway;)

I used to have Dysons, but at the moment I have a Miele Cat & Dog. The Miele is fantastic, it picks up twice as much as the Dyson, but the bags cost me a fortune. Maybe it's because I have a very hairy dog (which is why I bought it after all) but I have to put a new bag in virtually everytime I vacuum. I tried switching to generics for a bit, but I nearly bust the Miele. I got it serviced by a local independent and he told me off and said to only use the proper ones or I'd burn the motor out (and I don't buy bags off him, so he had no reason to make it up).

So although I love my Miele, when it does die, I'll be getting another Dyson. I can't justify the extra costs of running a Miele.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

Changed from Dyson to Miele. Dyson tube fits snuggly in top of Miele bag so I empty mine with the Dyson and reuse - sad I know but it works ! - used 2 bags in as many years. Wouldn't go back to Dyson now - too noisy / fragile / cumbersome.

Oh candle, you MUST join quidco.com - just google it, sign up and whenever you buy stuff on the net, once you have the best price for it, go to quidco.com, log in, check to see if they have that merchant, click on the link to the merchant, buy your stuff as normal and you will receive cash back in your account. Ive had nearly £900 cashback in 3 years.

Sounds good, thanks hethmar - off to join! ;)

    Hi,

A new bag every week - that's not right! How do you know you need to change the bag? Is it the change bag indicator? (Note I said change bag indicator not bag full indicator) If it is the indicator telling you to change the bag, is it because it is showing red all the time? If it is then you arn't reading the indicator correctly. To use it correctly you need to disconnect the main hose from the body then turn the cleaner on, if the indicator goes fully red then change the bag.

What I think is happenning is that you are seeing the red indicator all the time during use. This will always happen because it is measuring air flow resistance so by having the hose attached and the head against the floor this is creating resistance therefore showing red during use. (this is normal)

You should be able to fill the bag to bursting point with hair and fibres and still get good suction, it is dust that shortens the life of the bag because tiny particles blog the holes so therefore reduce air flow so the bag needs changing.

In other words I would expect someone using a Miele in a very dusty environment to need to change the bag more than someone with lots of long haired pets!

    Good luck

    Hi,

I would seriously re-think this policy if I were you. How many times do you re-use each bag?

What you are actually doing is removing the fibreous material from the bag but you won't be able to remove the tiny dust particles from the walls of the bag. You must notice a reduction in power from the second use of the bag. Every time you re-use the bag you are reducing the effiecency by 50%. This only goes to show the quality of the Miele vacuum to be able to cope with this abuse!

Miele spend millions in research developing their bags and they are years ahead of any other manufacturer and they are designed for single use for a very good reason, and surely on average £16 a year for 2 boxes of bags, most people can afford that!

Ive always found the indicator to be pretty unreliable, so I don't take much notice of it. It's obvious when the bag is full, because it sounds different and stops picking up well. Often by then the bag is jammed full. Change the bag and it works great again.
