How easy to get another job after being dismissed

I do find it strangely amusing how they found out I was on the site 2 days after joining though, and I absolutely agree with you about employers!!!
I just feel (after speaking to my girlfriend) that I shouldnt have made the employment comments in relation to my employment (which a lot of you have said as well) and all I can do is face the music and explain why I thought that I had not breeched procedures in making these comments.
I just feel like GM is OTT but they obviously feel my comments were that serious. I just dont see how they can trust me after accusing me of GM which is why I feel like they will more than certainly dismiss me, as someone earlier said, working in a bank is about trust and once that trust is broken, there is no going back.
After my hearing, it will be me posting a thread written 'is there life after being dismissed from a bank', lol
hmmmm.....now wondering how they found out you were "on site" in only 2 days....pretty much instantly in other words....
a. Did you tell any of your work colleagues at all that you are? (voice of experience time - sometimes even the ones you think you're on friendly terms with can turn out to decide it suits them better to "rat on" you).
b. Were you accessing this site from a work computer? Employers can and do check out what sites their employees access from work computers.0 -

If the registration had any personal info they might have just given this out.
If the regsitration was not truly anon(needs no personal info and multiple users of the IP address) then it could be unwise to deny being that user.
Two points in response to that:
a. I doubt that MSE would know who we are.
b. They wouldnt "let on" if they did - as they would soon get a VERY bad name indeed for that sort of action amongst users (bearing in mind that many of us are in touch with each other individually and on other Forums that have emanated from this Forum) AND, even, more to the point the words "Data Protection Act" come to mind - as in I expect that Act covers things like maintaining anonymity on a Forum such as this.0 -

I was at home so did not mention to any colleague that I was on MSE, nor did I ever discuss MSE wit anyone from work
I was accessing the site from a home computer
I have been made aware of a couple of my banks employees on this site who I have been skeptical about but never did converse with them on this site or at all, I have no idea who they were.
And coming to think about it, the two posts that I did respond to were first time posters so they could have been posts used to set me up or other employees up
Someone did ask (i think cocopopslover) how much information I gave out and as I joined this site originally to seek advice (in no shape or form did i join this site with the intention to represent or act on behalf of my employer), they might have figured out it was me by some of the financial information i gave out0 -
I have a disciplinary on Thursday and they said they will send me the supporting documents shortly WHICH THEY HAVE NOT DONE!!!!!!!
I am meant to receive the evidence at least 5 working days before hearing.
If I call them to cancel and request the meeting be moved until I have enough time to prepare a defence, will this look bad on my part?
I thought if they were playing everything by the book, they would have sent the evidence in time but to me, i feel they knew they had to send it at least 5 days before and they are taking the mick!
What should I do? Im wondering if they have not sent evidence because they are most probably still investigating or they dont have enough just yet or they are seeing if they can get away with sending me the evidence a day or two before the hearing0 -
I find it really hard to believe out of all the bank staff on this site. That give users advise on banking is shocking.
Then your the one getting done for GM. I wonder if theres more too it or youve clearly been grassed up my another user who has managed to identify who you are and has said you are representing the company on this site.0 -

Does it say this in your employee handbook?
If so, then even if you get the papers on Monday, that is only 3 working days before the hearing.
I'd wait and see if they arrive tomorrow. If there are only a few sheets, and if they don't say anything you don't already know, then you might just decide to go with it (there isn't much point on asking for a delay, just to prove a point).
But, if the papers don't arrive tomorrow, or if there is a substantial wedge of documents to go through, or if something is revealed by the documents that you need to take advice on, then yes, it is perfectly reasonable to ask for the hearing to be postponed on the basis that they have not complied with their own written procedures which state that they must provide the documents at least 5 days before the hearing, and that the late delivery of these papers now means that you have insufficient time to seek advice and prepare for the hearing on Thursday.
hope this helps
EDIT - I'm a bit surprised you are posting on here for advice, when you know that the bank is watching your posts.
Have you spoken to ACAS, they can give you information and talk you through the procedures - and in the right circumstances they will sometimes approach the employer directly, on behalf of the employee.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

I wouldn't use the same username or be silly enough to even think about using the same username and the amount of people that use MSE in my household is amazing
But point taken
Thanks0 -
bizarrely this is something I know a lot about since I was a bank worker, I was sacked for Gross Misconduct, I did have the same type of games played with me. If you want advice off the forum then send me a Private Message. If it is RBS Group as the bank, then I know their disciplinary policy extremely well.0

I was suspended from NatWest in January 2009 and sacked on 11th February 2009
I know it will lead to dismissal but how easy is it to get another job in banking after being dismissed from the bankinng industry??
It depends what the issue is with regards to the Gross Misconduct,
I had considered leaving this job out of my CV but I have been with this employer for 4 years so its a pretty large gap that needs filling on my CV
I had 10 and a half years in banking so I couldn't leave it off my CV. I am going through your posts so apology if this is completely out of the timeline or that someone else has answered the question.0 -

I had helped a customer out of a situation on a public forum.
Was asked if was a member of the site and i stupidly said yes and asked what i had said and i explained very briefly what i had said and i did explain that i did not do anything wrong as far as i remember regarding procedure and i was told to stop
Next day, got called up saying i was suspended. I was told I gave out too much information to this person. Now a hearing has been set for next month for Gross Misconduct
The information i repeated was already freely available on the site but I think its the fact that I mentioned that I worked for this paticular bank that got me in trouble
Your defence is that the information was already in the public domain. You were repeating what was already stated on the forum(you need screen prints).0
