Agree - and if you book direct with the hotel and gamble at all, you may also be able to reduce your room cost on check out.
Also Hotwire (and Priceline) bookings cannot be cancelled, whereas booking direct can...so once you've booked with Hotwire you can't change your mind if a great deal comes up.
And with Hotwire (and Priceline) you pay the full amount up front rather than just the first night - for some people this may be preferrable but for many it's not.
And while you can do some research and have a good idea what hotel you're getting, if you don't do your research, you could end up really, really disappointed.
I think anyone even considering Hotwire or Priceline should have a look at:

SeptemberThanks for the reply Trets  I'll have a look at carhire 3000. That's another point, I've never driven an auto before  I think after the first 5 minutes I'll be fine but it's just that initial driving off :rolleyes:0

October , NovemberCongratulations and thank you all for a great thread.
I have booked flights for Vegas (so excited!! :j), arriving on Nov 19th and departing Nov 25th. My daughter will turn 21 on the 21st, so am now looking at hotels.
For our first 2 nights, she will not be able to drink or gamble, so we are considering Circus Circus (£51 non-refundable via cityandshow). I know this place hasn't had the best reviews, but we are used to staying at cheap hotels in Europe and I'm thinking our money could then be better spent on a mid-strip hotel for the remaining 4 nights. Circus Circus would also be convenient for us to visit the Strat and [STRIKE]go on[/STRIKE] see the roof-top rides.
For our second hotel, I would be hoping to try for an upgrade as we will be checking in on dd's 21st birthday. My concern here is that, from the hotels we've looked at so far, it only appears to be the cheaper rooms that have 2 queen beds?We don't really want to have to share a king-size bed! If anyone can help and recommend an appropriate hotel that would be great.
Other questions (I have read the thread and haven't seen answers to these, so apologies if I've missed it):
1. We love live music - is there a website where we can see if any bands are playing during our stay? (rock/indie/punk/pop)
2. Could we get a limo transfer from one hotel to another? Or would we be better off doing the limo transfer from the airport to the first hotel?
3. Why must we ensure that our transfer from the airport does not take the tunnel? (whatever the tunnel is!)
Sorry for all the questions! There may well be more to come as our trip draws nearer
TIA xsome people grin and bear it, others smile and do it0 -
SeptemberJust got a great deal from City and Show. Changed our booking for September from the Paris to the FOUR SEASONS!! £790 all in for 8 nights. Less than £100 a night to stay in the highest rated hotel in Vegas, had to be done. Even going through the four Seasons own special promo of getting 2 free nights and $50 credit this deal works out at almost £400 less. I have previously stated the Encore was my favorite hotel, I think that might change after September the 16th.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

If you look at the MGM Grand, they have a few different type of rooms, I stayed in a Bungalow Suite last year with two queen beds, they also do them with one bed so make sure you book the right one.

SeptemberGood find on the Four Seasons. I must admit I'm tempted, but the location puts me off as we won't be renting a car.
I thought I was all settled with my hotels, but this is making me think again. £100 is about $149 + tax....... Wouldn't mind trying it for a couple of nights, but fitting it in with our other plans is the problem. Think I'll run it past the OH.0 -

Stoneman i am so jealous:( I really hope you both enjoy the FS, we loved our stay there last year and are itching to get back. The rooms are lovely, not as big and fancy as Encore/P/V but they are classy and elegant and actually my favourite room to have stayed in. They have L'occitane toiletries which i love and buy anyway and our lovely maid brought me the biggest bag when i asked her for some extras:D The service is great but not intrusive and the pool experience is the best i've ever had. Plus its cool to use the "secret door" when entering and leaving the MB casino, you always get peeps looking at you wondering where you've come from:rotfl: I loved Encore, but would rate FS much higher and i can't wait to hear what you both think of it.
I'm going to price it up for december (just out of curiosity mind lol my OH will kill me when he finds out). We stayed on the 3 for 2 promo and with the great exchange rate at the time it worked out at £95pn incl tax so unless i can get it that cheap again i've no chance of convincing my OH.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0
