JulyHi All,
Just after a quick reccommendation really.....
Looking to go to Vegas next Feb and having trouble deciding between the Mirage and the Signature at MGM Grand. Obviously the Mirage has the location and the Signature has the luxury suites which will cost me a few pounds more. Can anyone point me where they would advise staying?
Also, been reading a few bad reviews about the Virgin direct flights from Gatwick. Is it really that bad? I flew on Thomson to the Caribbean last year, is it any worse than that, apart from obviously being a longer flight?! Also, is it worth the upgrade to premium economy?
Look forward to your replies.
Thanks.
Rob
Ok i've never stayed at either but here's my opinion FWIW. Mirage is a great hotel in a great location, it has a nice atmosphere and lots of dining options etc. Signature is a non gaming hotel so it has no casino and very little amenities on site so you'll have to venture out of your hotel for most meals etc Its location isn't as good as Mirage but its not a dealbreaker either imo
Mirage rooms have recently been renovated and whilst nice looking they aren't in the same league as Signature rooms. The reason I have never stayed at Signature is that i have never found it for less money than Wynn/Encore/Palazzo and as i consider it to be a notch below these hotels i've always ruled it out. If you're not set on these 2 hotels i'd price up Wynn/Encore/Palazzo which would give you a really good hotel in a great location, so the best of both worlds really.
The Virgin flight isn't great, and its a disappointment if you've flown with Virgin to another destination. I'd fly with them again though at the right price so they're not that bad. I'd never consider upgrading to PE on that route, i'd rather grin and bear it for 11 hours and put the money towards enjoying myself in Vegas.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

Mirage is fine if you want a comfy room , mid strip . just don't expect the luxury of Signature .
In any holiday hotel in Europe , The Mirage's rooms would be considered luxury , In Vegas they are probably just average to above average . we stayed there and had no complaints about cleaniness , bed comfort , space , or noise . we also had a great view of trhe strip and The Volcano .Negatives : smallish Bathroom , no WOW factor in rooms , but nothing at all that would spoil your trip .
The Mirage Hotel is great theme and a very fun place to hang out . would i stay there again , definatly if the price was right , but room prices are now very competive meaning you can super luxury of Siganture/ Wynn / Bellago for bargain prices . (don't forget to factor $15 a day resort fee at the Siganture )Thanks for that link, very useful.
Regarding flights, where should I look for cheapish flights there? Sorry I'm new here and there is so much info to take in I've got a bit lostAlso, been reading a few bad reviews about the Virgin direct flights from Gatwick. Is it really that bad? others will disagree and say that they are okay with the Gatwick flights , or that the advantages of going direct are worth tolerating the flight . me personally i won't ever get back on it .
i think where you live now plays a very important part in your choice of flight . we live in the Midlands and until recently Birmingham never had flights to America . now you can connect in Philly with US Airways . i am not fond of connecting flights but , add up time and expense it takes to travel to London against time spent connecting and it is worth doing IMO .
where to look for cheap flights . try all USA carriers own websites , and Netflights , Expedia and Kayak ect .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Hi, I've been reading all of the las vegas pages over the past few weeks to get ready for our first trip in september. We are doing a tour and will be in vegas in mid sept for 4 nights wed-sat inc. I've just found a deal for the palazzo which seems very good through a website called low cost las vegas and was hoping if someone could let me know if they have had any dealings with the website and if I phone palazzo whether i could book direct and get the same rate - it's not on their website. Seems too good to be true and i'm wondering if it is!
thanks
edit - also have good prices (i think) for paris, hard rock, hilton, flamingo and new york new york. - all bewteen 250-350 for the four nights....0 -
