Thanks for that makes a bit more sense now nothing like making things more complicated (although its probs just me) haha. So have I got this bit right on the day you can use your miles to upgrade if and when possible?
I did. But this was about 7 years ago when flying to south africa.
Upgraded from economy to upper for 30,000 (one way) and a fee of about £20 / £25. This was at LHR just before take off.

Not sure if anyone else on this message board is as boring as me and watches Working Lunch ;) but in case you don't, the Mayor of Las Vegas was on yesterday - building up some of the hype for City Center etc

Available on iPlayer - (skip to around the 18 minute mark):

Given the current economic climate, I doubt that will happen for a long time yet

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:The same time they do the promised upgrade of the Premium economy seats. That was put off when times were good, so not a likey event in the near or far future.
You only have to look at what they are doing, even though they are one of the small band of airlines making a profit, they are cutting back in almost every aspect
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

IMHO they will only be upgraded when they dump the Alitalia 747s on the Gatwick routes.

You don't say where you're flying from, if it's direct, which hotel you're looking at with the packages (or at least what level of hotel)...so...really hard to say...also not sure what classifies as 'around Christmas time'...is that over Christmas? Before? After? In general the run up to Christmas is the slowest time of the year in Vegas so lots of great hotel deals to be had booking direct...it starts getting expensive closer to NYE so again, depends on your specifics. Start by checking prices for flights for your preferred dates...then look at the links on page 1 about hotel deals to see booking flights and hotel individually compares to booking together.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
