    Hi,

Thanks for that expedia seem to be about the cheapest. I was looking at staying at the mgm grand. Is this hotel any good. i think its about 750pound for a week including flights, which seems reasonable. is this a good deal?

    Thanks scott

Scott MGM Grand would be my first choice especially over the other 2 you have mentioned it really s just a better class of hotel 4 star against 3 and imho you can tell the difference.

    Hi Everyone

I've been lurking on this site for a couple of months now but I've at last got around to registering and this is my first post so I hope I do it right!

Just want to say a big big thankyou to everyone on this thread. I fly out to Vegas this Saturday :j and have found out the answer to everything I needed to know on here.

I love reading all your trip reports so I'll try and do one as soon as I get back.

I'm sooooo excited I've hardly slept all week although I'm gutted we booked it before the Killers gig was announced. Hope everyone who's going to that have a great time.

    Thanks again everyone

    Carol xx

I'm not sure you said flights from where and what time next year.

The best hotel deals won't be out for next year yet so it's hard to compare apples with apples. £750 per person assuming 2 people sharing a room at MGM doesn't sound like a great deal to me - assuming flights are £400 that's £700 for the room or £100/night or about $160 at today's exchange rate...that's quite a lot for MGM...even if you assume £500 for the flights, £500 is still quite a lot for a week at MGM I think - though you don't say what type of room at MGM.

But it really depends on what exactly you're looking at in terms of flights and when, etc. If right now expedia is marginally better than booking direct, chances are very good that you'll do better on the hotel closer to your dates - so booking flights and hotel separate may make more sense (and give better flexibility).
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Welcome and have a great trip - look forward to your trip report when you get back! There should be a flurry of them in the coming weeks based on how many people are going shortly.

Less than 3 weeks for us now!

    Welcome aboard Carol!

You can't just leaving it at that, we need details. Where are you staying? How long are you going for? Who are you flying with? Etc, etc.

I agree with ferf, £750 seems a bit high for MGM when they have had offers from $49/night recently.

Its my 4th time there but this time its a girlie long weekend as its my best friends "big" birthday so there's 4 of us going.
Fly out with BA from Heathrow to LAX then on the Vegas with AA.Staying at the Mirage as its nice and central plus I love the Forum shops!! Booked in January and got a pretty good deal on expedia but I didn't even think of booking something and then looking for other deals until I saw it on here!
Only there for 3 nights through ... wish it was longer as there's so much we want to do. Booked tickets for O on sunday night , couldn't get the $25 deal as they had sold out but still got the 25% of deal so thats still good.
One friend wants to try a meal at the Voodoo lounge though , has anyone been there?

unless you are very picky , the MGM Grand will be fine . IMO the MGM Grand is the middle ground , you can do better , if you have the cash BUT if you have no experiance of top notch US hotel quality i think you will be very pleased with the quality / comfort you get @ the MGM .

as for £750 being a good deal  , you need to your own homework by pricing up flights and hotels separate . try all the major US carriers and flight sites and the offers available on the links in post 1.

we can point you in the right direction , but you have to do your own leg work to get those savings . ;)
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
  • Does anybody have any suggestions for hotels for me - We're only staying for 1 night in October, but because it falls on a Friday most of the strip hotels are wildly overpriced. We are working to a budget of around £60-£70 per night on our trip and dont want to go over this.

A hotel off the strip but reasonably close to it would be fine, but i've spent the best part of a month trying to find somewhere suitable and am getting close to the end of my tether!!
