    off the top of my head:

    The queue of wife-beater dressed Hispanics waiting to cash their weekly pay check that stretched a good 100m that you had to cross each time you went in and out the casino;
    The food poisoning the better half got (If there's 150,000 rooms in Vegas why go back to a place where you picked a bug up from?);
    poor location (why stay off-strip when you can stay on-strip even if it has a shuttle ..... there's just about nothing within walking distance of it);
    The pool is poorly located meaning its mid/late morning before its in the sun. After an hour or so in the gym we want a spot in the sun to relax and read and thats got to be before the sun gets too high in the sky, so it doesn't tick the box;
    Like most cheaper casions, its full of smokers.

    On the plus side it's nice to have bowling/cinemas on site and at $1 a night......

    I thought you were mr posh who wouldnt stay at such places.:rotfl:

    I fly a week on Sunday via Atlanta, looking forwad to the holiday but not the flights, It was easier when BMI flew direct.

    Know exactly how you feel, those BMI flights were pretty good.

    For $1 I'd stay anywhere, even after a bad experience (we wouldn't eat there again though) and the reason we were there that time, was, it was a weekend and I don't care who or what you are, but I won't pay $300 a night for a room that I've I've paid half (or less) the price for the rest of the week.

    "Posh", anything but, Signature may be our current hotel of choice, but it's for numerous reasons;

    nice "feel";
    never seen an English football shirt wearer;
    quiet; (usually!)
    good /"free" gym and internet;
    quiet pools (shadow issues though///but always able to use MGM - but they NEVER open all their pools ...grrrr)

    down side is ...could be further south, but overall still prefer it to the Ventian/Wynn

    Anyway, we have currently knocked up 17 different hotels in vegas (from just about the very top to the real dump that was Fitzgeralds!! (downtown...shudder...horrid place!)).

    Excalibur ..i see .... no i won't knock it, had a very nice Italian there on a couple of different occassions

    wdyw - where are you seeing $1 rates for Orleans?

    ratkarth - have a great trip and hope you'll give us a trip report when you're back!
    Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    With now 67 days (and counting) to go until we go to Las Vegas its time to get booking things! Before I start booking lots of things, I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the proposed itinerary in case I've missed something big or screwed up somewhere.

    As a background, we're going as a couple in our early 20's and parents are meeting us out there halfway through for the wedding. We like to do quite a bit on holiday and try to do some of the usual touristy things and some not so touristy. One thing we're not big into going out to clubs and getting drunk.

    Note: When we first booked we thought a week would be plenty, however now I'm struggling for time to do everything and wish I'd made it longer. :eek:

    Day 1 Friday - Arrival day so will just be settling in and exploring the strip.

    Day 2 Saturday - In the morning we're heading to Boulder City and taking a trip on the Nevada Southern Railway. Then in the afternoon hit the rides/casino in Excalibur and New York New York before heading upto Planet Hollywood and seeing Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre, while its not a big show, the misses wants to see it:p. In the evening meet up with parents who are arriving for a meal and try and go to the MGM Grand checking out M&M academy, mall and Lion Habitat..

    Day 3 Sunday - Start the day at the Flamingo wildlife habitat before heading over to the auto collection at Imperial Palace. On to the dolphin habitat & secret garden before going out for evening meal & the Lion King show at Mandalay Bay.

    Day 4 Monday - The wedding day, getting married in the morning at little chapel of the flowers before heading further afield to hire dune buggies for the afternoon at Nellis Dunes. Finally meal at Planet Hollywood and check out Caesars Palace/Mall and the fountains at Bellagio.

    Day 5 Tuesday - Early starting doing the Bootleg Canyon Flightlines at 8am. Afterwards need to go back to the chapel to check out the wedding pictures. In the afternoon off to Red Rock Canyon for horse riding and evening meal.

    Day 6 Wednesday - Parents leave today. Another early start to leave for Death Valley. Stop at rhyolite ghost town on the way before heading to Furnace Creek resort for sunset.

    Day 7 Thursday - Awake for sunset and check out Death Valley visitor centre. Doing a small tour of Death Valley in jeep. Early afternoon depart Death Valley to head back to Las Vegas. Catch an evening show possible and try and see the Volcano at Miarge and the Fashion Show Mall.

    Day 8 Friday - Grand Canyon full day trip in a pink jeep so a bit of free time here in the evening.

    Day 9 Saturday- Depature day. Lateish flight so last minute shopping and anything we've missed out that we want to do.
