Skegness warning

Skegness is 30 miles away for me, I have not and would not enter that poor excuse for a holiday resort, Do yourselves a favour pop up to Mablethorpe or if you are south based go to the North Norfolk coast. Skegness has attracted a massive following of lower moral persons, Cheap drink, fast food fake designer clothes and £1 shop specialists who seem hell bent on making as much of a nuisance of them selves as possible. ;("Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

My mum asked me to pick her up from there today. (Ingoldmells(sp))
So i drive down and decide to go for a mooch round Pleasure Island (or whatever its called) What a dive. It's basically a haven for all the dregs of society, the ones who spend £20 on a fake Henley top yet can't seem to afford £1 for some Colgate Toothpaste.
I imagine of you go on Signing on day (Tuesdays???) it would be empty, whilst they all are eagerly queuing at their local DWP chatting about how the country owes them their benefits and how their granddad fought in the war for their freedom...
Also, having been fortunate enough to travel the globe i have never seen so many fat lazy people in one place in my life. All bombing about on those lazy boy bike/car things.
The beach was rubbish, so much so i fell asleep whilst listening to "im a barbie girl" whilst people around me sat drinking cheap WKD looking out to the wind farms and proclaiming that "this was the life"
Soon enough i was headed back up the M180/18/62 back to Sunny Yorkshire with a smile on my face and a "im never going there again" in the back of my mind.
Have to say I completely disagree with you!
As a family of 7 we love Skegness!! Yes you get scumbags there-as you do with any estate/town but a holiday is what you make it, wherever that may be!
I work 30 hours a week(with 5 kids aged 4-9), my husband works full and we actually enjoy holidays here! Never claimed a benefit in my life
We are staying at Butlins which you seem to get a different class of people there as its so blooming expensive!! We wander into Skegness and Ingoldmells because the kids love it!! Donkey rides, rollercoasters and calorific candyfloss and dounts!! It takes me back to my youth lol!!
I say if anyone is thinking of going then please dont be put off!! There are so lovely days out to be had! Just gutted we are only going for a week:rotfl: Big Momma to 5 kids:rotfl:
Always looking at ways to save money or earn it!!!
Now could always sell a few kids;)0 -
I totally agree about the 'Chavs' and their fake items and I personally can't believe how the stalls and shops of Ingoldmels (sp?) get away with selling such obvious fake and counterfeit items (especially when they are oppenly on display).
I do feel it is harsh though to tarnish Skegness as such a dreadful place just because of the people who visit there, it's certainly no worse than Blackpool or presumably any other large UK family oriented seaside town?
I would like to know which part of Yorkshire you inhabit, I'd guess that it must be somewhere like Harrogate or another such wealthy town? If not then you must just be down the road from an estate of such deprivation as you class Skegness as.
Finlay, just because you yourself have had the opportunity to travel abroad, Not everybody has that opotunity and a lot more people choose to enjoy the UK instead or indeed as well as foreign travel.

Come to sunny Scarborough its more refined place
Its the most enterprise town in Europe we won the award, and despite recession we are fairing much better and still money being invested abet not as much as we would like0 -
I have, infact ive been to Disneyland California, Disney Land Paris and every park in Disney World Florida multiple times.
I think they meant this tongue in cheak about your comment about larger people, not a reason to brag about your holidays.Man who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok

You might want to change your title - as others have noted, you didn't actually go to Skegness!Gone ... or have I?0

Dmg24,
I agree with lorweld putting this into this section of the forum, in my eyes it falls into 2 places
1, UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments
2, Praise, Vent & Warnings
Initially i thought it was a rant, but its evolved into a discussion.
