My mum asked me to pick her up from there today. (Ingoldmells(sp))

So i drive down and decide to go for a mooch round Pleasure Island (or whatever its called) What a dive. It's basically a haven for all the dregs of society, the ones who spend £20 on a fake Henley top yet can't seem to afford £1 for some Colgate Toothpaste.
I imagine of you go on Signing on day (Tuesdays???) it would be empty, whilst they all are eagerly queuing at their local DWP chatting about how the country owes them their benefits and how their granddad fought in the war for their freedom...

Also, having been fortunate enough to travel the globe i have never seen so many fat lazy people in one place in my life. All bombing about on those lazy boy bike/car things.

The beach was rubbish, so much so i fell asleep whilst listening to "im a barbie girl" whilst people around me sat drinking cheap WKD looking out to the wind farms and proclaiming that "this was the life"

Soon enough i was headed back up the M180/18/62 back to Sunny Yorkshire with a smile on my face and a "im never going there again" in the back of my mind.

Awww, another 45 mins out of your way and you could have come and seen me for a cuppa :D

PS: I seem to remember venturing there not long after we had moved up this way, and again about 10 years ago to see if it had improved any (it hadn't!) Still, horses for courses I suppose, plenty do - and return year after year.

    It sounds horrible.
A snapshot of today's Britain perhaps?

There seems to be a big divide now IMO.
There's the oridnary class of people, then there's the scuzzy class who do b ugger all but drink cheap beer andbuy tacky clothes, and eat dross.

It's a shame that some of the most hardworking people you could wish to meet have been made redundant and might be classed as the same as them.

It's not about who's claiming benefits, but who's trying to live a decent respectable life?
I feel sorry for the long term residents of places like Skegness, it must be a nightmare in the summer.

Skegness, or the Costa del Skeg as my dad calls it, is fantastic. It did have a horrible reputation and that has stuck without people actually been there for many years.

They have spent a fortune on cleaning up the town and beach and i regularly take the kids to the beach there. Not sure about Cleethorpes, but there isnothing wrong with Skeggy, my dad had to eat his words when we took him there and he was pleasantly surprised!

I was there yesterday and have to be honest - If a fortune has been spent clearing it up i dread to imagine what it used to be like.

Good job you didn't travel a few miles north into Chapel St Leonards...that's even worse.

The budget holiday of choice in the North East is here:
    http://www.wittoncastlecountrypark.co.uk/

....Every summer, the place receives an influx of scum and their kids for a non-stop White Lightning session, while their kids fend for themselves....

Just goes to show that you never can tell - first impressions of the website make it look rather nice and restful :o

hi everyone, i have a touring caravan sited on a lovely quiet site in a small village called Addlethorpe which is about 5 miles from Skegness. I agree that Ingoldmells is very chavvy and if you want that kind of thing thats upto you, but personally me and the hubby spend most of our time in going to all the villages around. Skegness is good for the occasional day out though.
