Bulls & Bears -What's the difference?

A bull is someone who ignores all rational commonsense evidence that points to prices falling because they are terrified of this scenario - this is why a few BTL 'investors' (like chucky claims to be), and those who bought at the peak and now desperately regret it (like Really) post so desperately on here.
As you know I'm a BTL investor, who invested in one of my properties in Jan 07. I certainly do not regret it at all, let alone desperately regret it
By your post, you would infer that I ignore rational common sense evidence that points to prices falling yet...IveSeenTheLight wrote: »Yes, I'm a bull who said in my vested interest area its possible to see 20% drop

I'm a "bull" who said the UK average house price is 22% overvalued

I thought "bulls" think prices only ever go up (below posts show I believe they can go down)

If these all fit your sterotype of a "bull" then yes I am one.Oh, I forgot - bears are the intelligent ones with good jobs who know how to spell. Only the really dim ones who couldn't get proper jobs and can't spot a recession even when it jumps up and down in front of them and kicks them in the shins, are bulls.
It would be interesting to do a survey on here of highest educational achievement/profession on here of bulls v bears.
I'm not aware of a single bull who posts on here with a degree, let alone a proper job.
I think there are variedintelligence on both sides of the fence.
Sorry, but it's quite ignorant to think otherwise.
You say you don't know any bull with a degree, let alone a proper job.
Well, as you know I am an engineer posted overseas on secondment for my company partly due to my experience, knowledge and educational qualifications.
If you want to know specifically, I have an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. No wonder they're desperate for a get-rich -quick scheme - they know they have no other hope.
I turned to BTL as an investment as I had seen other means of a decent future fail.
I have bought shares and found them practically worthless, I have had my final salary scheme replace with a defined contributions scheme of which I now have no gaurantee of what standard of pension this will provide in the future.
In fact, I read a report saying that in 1989 (20 years ago) a 45 year old person would have been recommended to put away £200 per month which would have secured a pension of £32,000 per year. In actual return terms, the £200 per month would now in 2009 only secure a pension of £7,000 per year.
I'm sure you understand and appreciate why this uncertainty in future pension returns justifies a reason for looking at alternative future incomes.
My BTL's are certainly not get rich quick schemes.
I've said before I take no profit at present as my business plan is to use all available funds in to reducing the debt and thus becoming mortgage free quicker.
It's definately a long term plan.
I suffer from getting frustrated at peoples generalisms or stereotyping, hence why I had stayed away from this debate until now.
I hope everyone can see past stereotyping and understand there is a wide spectrum of people out there who are "Bulls" and who are "Bears".
They are not all tarred with the same brush:wall:

Bears are everyone else - if you look at any poll it's clear that the vast majority of the British public (a) think houses are currently overpriced and (b) think house prices are going to fall as a result. They also think (c) that this is a good thing.
However, being normal people, they don't feel the need to post numerous posts on the subject every day, or to attempt to bully all those who disagree - see the way this thread has typically turned into a 'let's make personal attacks on Graham Devon, and Rollerball', and now, I predict, myself.

9 GCSE's grade C and above.
Qualified Accountant
Director of a company (reporting to a times top 100 rich list owner)
Yes my spelling and English can be poor (you know the reason so your adult teacher status I find bizarre) but I did not sit back on it, it drove me forward.:)
Have a nice survey, perhaps you could have a survey on if having a degree entitles you to being more successful (eg I have a degree I deserver more, forget how hard people work)
Check out when people like Sir Alan Sugar left school and qualifications, qualifications are paper to hide behind in business, you can either do a job or you can't. sorry
What i earn is based on what I achieve not what I achieved years ago:)0 -
A bit like when you lost it yesterday? Watch out for those giant turnips Really2 , they're out to get you.

I quite liked the way it took HAMISH all of one post to be incorrectly accused of being an alias. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
