True, however, i found McAfee anti-virus quite useful, i uninstalled it though once the trial was over, then installed AVG. Ulead Photo Explorer: i dont think i got that or Paint Shop Pro, but i did get the ISP packs, but they are easy to uninstall, only took a few minutes0 -

Dell load lots of annoying ISPs amongst other things! :rolleyes:0 -

The RAM is simple to fit. You open the small flap under the computer. You will find the existing piece of RAM in 1 slot and there will be 1 empty slot. In the empty slot slide the new/extra piece of RAM in until it clicks and then close the back flap. Reboot and voila your laptop will recognise the extra RAM!0 -

Dont' forget to disconnect the laptop from the mains power supply, turn it upside down and remove the battery 1st, just in case. You will need to undo 3 screws to remove the cover for access to the memory slots. Then slide the new one in at a 45 degree angle until it is in, then lower it down until it clips into place. Replace the cover, then click the battery back in and lock it, turn the laptop over and power back up. On boot it will tell you that the amount of memory has changed, just press the key to continue with the boot up. Should take about 4 or 5 minutes if you take your time.0 -
When these offers were on a little while ago, buying via the small biz root was cheap does any one know if it is still worth trying that root?

Some were cheaper via small business a couple of weeks ago because of free delivery via that route. As all of these except N03135 has free delivery the prices will probably be the same. I have tried N03135 and this still comes out at £379.0 -
If you're after the 15.4" screen version (with dvd-rewriter and wireless) with the 6-cell battery and 512Mb RAM then a couple of weeks ago it was possible via the small business section to get this for £350.83 (and you could get the basic colour printer 725 for a tenner).
Idential spec. but 256Mb RAM with the current offers is £350.75 (code: N04135B via home or small business) and to add the printer will cost £31.49.

Along with deleteing all the rubbish that Dell preinstall, this made by Inspiron 1300 so speeeeeeeeedy!
If you use this extra 512MB of RAM. Does this work fine against the existing 256MB?? Therefore you would have a total of 768MB of RAM.0 -
yes, but remember the graphics on board grabs some so you will not see 768MB
did one this morning for a friend at workEx forum ambassador
