    in another thread :-

Went via the techy folks at support. Originally went via sales, eventually got through to support.

Direct number I was given by support was:

  • I have just ordered mine.

As a newbie to monysavingexpert, I have a couple of observations:

    1. why are people chatting about technical stuff and telling us every little thing about their order? it's really hard to spot the useful information to someone who wants to buy it - i had to wade through tons of stuff to see if there was a catch and I don't think there is but i did get fed up reading half way through!

    2. why don't the people who have obviously bought this have the curtesy to thank the person that suggested it?

Thank you Sid - I have done this using the tahnkyou button. I was about to spend £500 on a not so good machine and this is brilliant!!
  • I have looked through the thread and possibly just being really thick but could someone post me a link as to the laptop on offer. When I go into the Dell website I don't know which one I need to choose.
I understand (I think) that I reduce it to 90 day and can add a longer life battery for about £10.
I am wanting to buy one for my mum and dad as they are great to me and do lots in my house for me.
I know it's the last day I can order so would appreciate if someone can post the link for me.
Last question, do I put the evalue code 1-n04135b in? and do you think working for Social Services I can get the discount, I think we have a contract with them and how would I do this.
Sorry for being so dim and thankyou.

    I assume you mean courtesy?

You are (incorrectly) assuming that everyone that has bought this did so because of the first post! I had already seen the deal and pretty much decided to purchase one, but wanted to check some specifics - hence posting on the thread. I thanked those that heped me in gaining answers to these queries. The intention of the 'thanks' is surely that it is discretionary!

However, with regard to your first comment I agree - there is potentially too much superfluous information on this thread!

The deals keep changing (I think this one changes tonight), but the £339 price is on the link below (you just need to select the 90-Day Collect and Return service option which is under "Cover It with Dell Support Services"). For £11.75 you can chnage from a 4 cell to 6 cell battery.

Yeah, new deal under the same code is £30 more expensive, but includes a 60Gb hard disk compared to 40Gb (not sure whether or not that's worth £30).

    Works out as:
+ £60 no longer includes free shipping
    - £30.53 special "Save £30 or £50"

I got my 'your order has been shipped' e-mail yesterday afternoon, and I have received it today, via UPS! Excellent service! Just finished setting it up - I am so excited (sad, isn't it!). If you follow the link to UPS it will tell you whereabouts your laptop is.

    Thanks again, Sid Harper!
