YAY! Dell just called the depot for me and said "you can go ahead and collect your order, and we are very sorry for your negative experience with UPS and the inconvinience they have caussed you Miss X, we are very sorry and we will be requesting a report from UPS regarding the attempted delivery in the morning and the alleged attempted delivery at noon!" RESULT!
Right, I'm .... almost off ..... UPS depot just called and said to be there with ID eventhough no confirmation has come through from Dell, he will se what he can do as it should be with him by then!

can someone assist me? i know your all racing to get to your lappys...(Bubba_Shaboo:))
but ive got an old computer..with all my programs on..eg flash..
am i right in saying if i got to the "program files" in the hard drive copy the folders on to dvd, then transfer the dvd to my new lappy..and copy the folders in to that "programs folder" will that then allow me to have the same software on my laptop?
sorry if that seems a really simple question..0 -
Sorry but unfortunately it's not that simple - the programs almost certainly wouldn't work as when they are installed changes are made elsewhere on your computer too in addition to the program files area (other areas affected are often the windows directory and something called the registry).
The only way to get programs working properly is to install them from scratch. The other thing to watch out for if some of these programs are really old is whether they will actually run under XP - if they won't you can emulate older windows operating systems by using the XP compatibility mode. You can access that by right-clicking on the program icon on the desktop and you will find the compatibility section in there.
Hope this helps.0 -
thanks for that billymac...

Oh my giddy Aunt! was panicking as I couldn't find my passport an hour ago, then there was a knock at the door! And guess who! UPS man ... I was shocked! Said to him "oh dear, this must be the 4th time you have tried to deliver today" he said "yeah" so I called him a *ahem* liar LOL!
