Lasts for around 3 hours, not sure what the 4 cell is. I think it's well worth an extra £11.75.
Also bear in mind battery life, Dell quote 300 charge/discharge cycles (the battery loses efficiency with use), that's why they recommend you run of the mains when possible.

Whats the difference between P4 1860 and PM 1860???

P4 was designed originally for desktop PCs, runs much hotter and uses more battery power than PM

If you ask me (and im not slightly biased because I didnt just order one :rolleyes: ) you wont really notice the difference that an extra 100mhz will make, especially as it is still on the Celeron-M.

Save the £25 or whatever it is they take and just upgrade the battery, £350.75 all in, add RAM for £25.99 after you recieve it.

IMO its not worth the extra for the Pentium-M in this base either, as it runs at 400mhz FSB when it should run at 533.....

You'll find the 'M' processors are quicker than their previous non-'M' counterparts (more a BMW type thing than Ford I guess LOL ) - these also have the 1Mb L2 cache. I remember seeing an Intel comparison that showed something like a P4-M 1.4 was equivalent to the then P4 2.2 on a desktop. The lower clock speed translates to less power consumption and therefore longer battery life.

These are pretty nippy machines, and the Celeron (despite being pushed as a budget CPU) is pretty much just the last generation of Pentium 4. They're good CPUs and if you want a basic laptop, you can't go wrong with this IMHO.

As for the 6-cell battery - absolute bargain, and I would say 'essential' if you want to use this thing even occasionally as a portable machine - it doubles the power-up time. Of course, some people just want it to stay in one place all plugged in because it's more compact than a desktop PC.

They quote double the time for a 6 cell and just short of 4 hours. Depends how you set the screen brightness in part.

Thanks guys ..... one last question ... does the wireless thingy on there work with bluetooth? Or is that something completely different?

Will sleep on it I think ... I think I will probably get it ..... will be gutted though if a better offer comes up next week!!

Wireless on it is Wireless Networking (WI-FI), different from Bluetooth.

You can get a bluetooth USB adaptor from £6 in various online retailers if you need one though.

At £350.75 for it with the battery, you wont get MUCH better in other offers, I've just ordered one at that price

Thanks Kilty ... I am probably being a tad too cautious ... last time I bought a laptop was years ago, it cost £1999 and was an absolute nightmare ... I know this is no where near that cost (still can't believe I was silly enough to pay that much) but once bitten .....! I got my money back eventually!

Hopefully this will be a better experience .... Dell are supposed to be better! Can always cancel if I start having a kattack LOL LOL

You can return it up to 7 working days from receipt under the Distance Selling Regulations, at your own cost and risk.

Dont know how much it would cost to send Special Delivery to Ireland mind you, probably about £19.

It has to go to EIRE not Northern Ireland so it's not part of UK but classed as Europe. Can be done in £25 though (boxed up machine weighs 5kg according to Dell but it's more like 4kg if you ask me).
