Hi everyone
Hope all is well! First day of job today - went well, lovely people. However, on my way home, I was offered another job that I went for - more money but probably more stress. I had to turn it down, but was absolutely gutted for some reason - just made me feel sad and I am always going to think about the opportunity I may have missedYou would think that I would have been happy and I should be, as its the biggest job I have ever went for, but for some reason I feel flat
Anyway, enough about me..................how are all you fine people?0 -
Hey,
Glad your first day went well louisei know you'll always think what if but you clearly said no for a reason and thats what you have to focus on.
I hope everyone had a nice bank holiday weekendMy lovely lovely (employed) boyfriend booked a holiday for the two of us so im very excited about that! Its a well deserved break for the both of us after uni and everything
Today i applied for a job that i really really want! Its the job i've felt most qualified for and it would be awesome! So fingers crossed.
Much love and happy thoughts

Good luck with that application CCC! And really glad to hear your first day went well Louise. I guess with the other job offer we just make judgements, don't we? I don't think you need to look at this as missing out, though. There will be other opportunities in your life!
I'm still waiting to hear back from my potential new employers. I'm supposed to be starting next week (if my references are acceptable). Am getting kind of nervous about it. I think I'll be pretty disappointed about it if I don't get it. I've significantly reduced the numbers of job applications I've done since being offered it - it's so disheartening applying for jobs and not hearing back from most of them. I really don't want to go back to that.0 -
I start on monday, Callcentre for a car insurance company. Its through an agency and I am fully aware of the risks involved having worked agency before. Since I don't drive i have to get two bus each way. I promised myself that I would never go back to call centre work but you have to take what you get at the moment.
On the upside I am looking forward to being able to speak to other adults and to have a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I treated myself to a hair cut and an eyebrow reshaping (:rotfl:) yesterday because I was starting to look quite scruffy and I want to look nice and tidy on my first day.0 -
Dear All,
Another week has gone past and we're doing a great job here, much better than the "Benefit Busters"... lol!! Have you been watching that programme at all? I'm not sure that the idea of the government paying someone commission to get us all back in to work is actually very moral? Surely that's what the job centres are for? I found the whole series very interesting and some of the characters are a little too sales-y for my liking. Your thoughts on this, dear friends?
Louise: well done on your first week. As long as you are doing the job you want to do, ignore the other one that was offered. Less stress = happiness... !!
Lolly & Chica: fingers and toes crossed for you both!! Take the next two days off worrying.
Medini: good luck and enjoy the treatments to make you look fab. Yes, it's nice to get back in to the "normal" world. I'm off to get an eyebrow shaping myself this weekend! And good luck with the job - it's the start of the light at the end of the tunnel. :j
Hey ho! New phrase of the week, just entered the Oxford dictionary again but I've been using it for years...!!! And Meh! which I learnt of child no. 1 and is very helpful!
I'm off to the Body Shop at Home thread now as I've just signed up to be a consultant. I've not done direct sales before and I'm hoping that it'll be okay especially leading up to Christmas.
Have a great weekend lovely people,

Just a quick note to say how my day went. Training was the usual first day rubbish (everyone make a name badge and a poster about yourself), with the actual work starting today. There are some very interesting characters in the group to say the least, and 3 people I have worked with at other jobs in the same training group :j which is odd.
My contract is for 6 montsh to help cover the busy period, so this time I will make sure that I plan for a new job and save up plenty of money just in case I take a while to find work again.
Goodluck to everyone this week :T0 -
Oh Medini, I'd forgotten about all that stuff! I have my induction for my new job tomorrow. I hope I'm not going to have to do stuff like that.
I will say here that I'm still not totally convinced that this job isn't going to fall through - they haven't said my reference have come back ok. Still fingers crossed that I make it through the probationary period! But thanks sackcloth.
Yeah - I'm doing the same as you. I've got a comprehensive budget spreadsheet now that I downloaded off the internet and I've begun filling it in. I'm going to try and put £10 a week into my holiday fund so that maybe in a few months I can actually go on some sort of holiday!! And I will be going for (hopefully) medium term and long term savings as well. Don't know how I'm going to afford this on a slightly more than minimum wage job! But I have one debt where the last payment is next month - woo! So I'll be able to put all of that money into savings.
I spent hours and hours at the job centre on Friday and Monday to get money for my travelcard and to buy shoes. But it's actually nice to have shoes that don't have holes in them!
How is everyone else doing?0 -
Hey guys - my job is intense, but I am so excited about it! My team are lovely.
Glad to hear you are all well x0 -
Hey,
things seem to be looking up then!
I started doing some temp work today. Its not particularly exciting or difficult but it pays. Should go on for a couple of weeks so will be good to bring some pennies in.

Hi All, and things are definitely picking up around here!! Well done to everyone for staying focussed and positive.
Louise: glad you're enjoying the new job. Go for it girlie!!
Chica: brilliant news, get networking while you're there. I've got loads of jobs from temping and I got a lot of repeat bookings too. Gosh, that seems a long time ago... almost 20 years since I was a temp the first time around... lol!!
Anyway, news from Sackcloth land is that I'm still in my current position but keeping the irons warm. Hope to have something positive back next week one way or another. Had a few days where I had a bit of a wobble and lost my usual spark, but have bounced back a bit and am now trying to be more confident!
My poor OH has been applying for some roles, there are new ones appearing now so looks like things are getting better for everyone.
Good luck to you all and you've all done very well (as young Mr Grace might say)!!!!
Toodles,
