item not sent to requested address

Advice please
I am a buyer on Ebay, have never sold.
I purchased an item for under £20 recently and requested with the paypal payment that the item be sent to my Dad’s address (Father’s day present). Just to be on the safe side I also contacted seller through Ebay at same time with same message.
I had no response so emailed again a couple of days later. Still no response
Next day the item turned up at my address.
After frequent (polite) emails to seller and setting up a dispute through paypal I have had answer from seller to say they cannot send items to address not held on Ebay or paypal for security reasons. Is this correct?
Grateful for any advice please

Many people refuse to send it to anything other than the paypal address. What would annoy me though is they didn't explain that and just posted the item off!! Not sure what you can do about it though, I don't think I'd be claiming a refund, and I'd just leave a neg.I love surprises!0

Leave a neg? Definitely not
If you paid by paypal, the seller would lose their protection if they didn't send it to the address provided by paypal. If you wanted to have the item sent elsewhere, you should have changed/added the address to paypal before paying."Now to trolling as a concept. .... As Premier said, if you wanted it sending to your Dad's address, you would have had to add his address to your paypal account before making the payment.
The seller acted 100% correctly.
Your mistake.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Totally agree the seller has done nothing wrong except a little poor communication. The item has been sent as required to the registered paypal address. Maybe mark down on DSRs for communication but definatly not a neg0 -

Which dispute type did you open - not received, or not as described?<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Leave negative feedback stating that you would not deal with them again due to lack of communication.
Don't leave the negative feedback for them sending it to your confirmed paypal address.0 -

Thats ridiculous and very petty. Thats what the DSRs are for. If i gave sellers a neg everytime there was poor communication. That would be 90%of the people I buy off. Then no one would deal with me as a buyer.
I think you need a little perspective rather than being vindictive for the sake of it0 -

There did not seem to be any dispute title that covered the situation so i went for not received.
Do you think that is the right one?0 -
It's pointless opening a dispute - on what grounds?!
'Notes' written with PP payments are notoriously hard to spot. You should have changed the address on your PP account. As the other have said, the seller is in the right here - they would have given up all their seller protection to send to the gift address.
Be reasonable, and close the dispute. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
