  • Its nice to have options PAF so thats a start.

I know Hypno did something similar recently and she applied but then when she went to pay the other off they gave her an even better rate so they were being competitive!

So maybe don't automatically go for the Halifax offer, if they are willing to offer you that then maybe you could get an even better rate with someone else?

    Worth a look around maybe.

Sounds like a move in the right direction, lower interest rates are always desirable xx
  • Thanks for all your wise words! The loan isn't going to happen now because having called them, yes it doesn't matter that I am self employed, but they would want proof of my net income without taking any of my other income I receive into account, such as WTC, and CTC and DLA that I get. My gross income looks very healthy, my net income is rubbish. So, Im just not going to put myself through it.

My pictures didn't sell, are my gran and dh telling me something from the grave with my grans clock not selling first time either having been told it is very unique and desirable? Or is it representative of everything about my life at times, I just have to try harder and perservere! Waiting to hear back from the auction house whether they have another auction date due soon such as before Xmas.

Back to the weekend with dd!....

  • Woke up this morning panicking about money, then had a time of self talk and pulling myself together and now feeling more positive. I have decided to forget about the interest rates at the mo. My debt is as it is. I'm eternally grateful it's not any higher. It WILL continue to be paid up to date as required each month, and half yearly in the case of Inland Rev. How I do that is going to be through my work and selling bits and bobs as I am doing on ebay/auction. That is it put simply. It will happen because I will make sure it will.

I also reminded myself this morning how very blessed I am with my friends, one of whom has an 8 yr old dd and passes on to me all her old clothes which are certainly not old because they are such good quality, so dd has some Nike trainers now amongst other lovely things and I am so appreciative of the money that saves me. Furthermore, a charity that I got in touch with somehow when my falling over was at its peak, bought round a food bag the other day and a few bits for dd from Father Xmas. How kind is that? Moved me to tears actually. They have also given - yes, given us - some pantomine tickets for the local one here on Dec 19th. So, I am very blessed on both those fronts, and now with the support of NVA - the murder charity - I can allow myself to be more confident. I am most certainly not alone, everyone is willing me on to get out of this debt situation, and believes I can do it, I must believe in myself a bit more too. The IVA option is there, but no, not at the mo, I just cant go there, my heart beats all over and no I just can't go there right now.

For the first time in a long time, I will be finishing the year in less debt than when I started the year. That has to be a good thing and I must hold on to that. Sept next year is when my mortgage will most certainly reduce IF rates stay low. Even if its by £100 that will be great, and with increasing my income per month by say £100 I will be in a much more secure place. Yes, come on Lou, you can do it!!

The good news is I finally have two Linda Jane Smith prints up on ebay. I have another 10 to sell if necessary. My grannys clock is going in for sale on tuesday, and it could sell, just cos it didn't the first time doesn't mean it wont the second time. My Mackenzie thorpe prints I will have to check out with the auction house, but I would hope they could re enter them in to the next auction, failing that I will try ebay. My dd's 2'6 bed is now advertised in our local Friday Ad, with present money for her from my mum, I wil be able to get her a nice metal pink 3ft bed and that will have to be her birthday pressie from me and mum and dad this year(dds bday is 2nd Jan).

So, onward and upward, not dressed yet, but going to have a day where i dont care about that! The ironing is waiting, baking, a nice roast dinner, and sorting out dd's room. Yes, all will be well! And I must just say, that my dd has just made me a cup of tea - not sure its hot bless her. She is the one I am most grateful for, what a wonderful wonderful dd she is...

  • Just nipping on to record what a lovely day we have had today. My friend who I mentioned earlier on with the 8yr old dd who is actually 9 as I discovered today!, well she invited us over for lunch. It was lovely, I baked some cakes for tea and we all had a great time. Today, have joined the ebay thread and the sealed pot challenge for Xmas next year . Going to get some tims organised this week, saw some in the pound shop on sat and will do one for Xmas, and one for loose change with a view to paying off debt with it. Yes, feeling every hopeful that all is well and will be well!

    Hi DF

Yes, dont think me mad but I have been having a quiet word with my dh and my gran, asking them to send along someone who wants to buy it, and for them to know I wouldn't be doing it unless I felt it was utterly necessary. So, please let it convert into cash very soon!! Time will tell what they think of my plea! Will let you know if it sells!

  • Another great dev is that the bed I have my eye on for dd is now reduced on the tescos website by £50 to £98 with mattress and free delivery. When i have the money later this week, am going toorder it. Also, had one email already enquiring about dd's old bed I'm selling so looking good, and my dear friend has given dd a lovely coat once belonging to her dd. So, we are indeed v blessed. Heres to a great week. I am planning to go the gym on weds am, a lot on tom so will just do my floor exercises here.

  • First things first today, checked my bank account. Pleased to see my basic mortgage is now below £83K. Pd off £2728.56 this year so far off of it. Given my choices are limited re who I can have my debt with, I am grateful for these small steps forward, it makes all the hard work worth it, and Im sure as time goes by, my choices regarding my higher interest debt will become greater and I will find ways to get ahead of that.

Plan for today, papperwork, dd to school, home to make tel calls and load car, off to do 2 del before collecting 167 books, more del of orders, to the bank before 5 and home to call prospects till mum brings dd home. Then supper, dd to bed, sort out books ready for tom, bed, yes bed at a relatively decent time!!! Busy busy!

  • Well. this week has become a bit of an emotional rollercoaster financially wise, and I am just longing for tom when I receive my Kl bonus. All bills up to date, so thats good. Today is the day my grannys clock goes into auction again so am praying to my gran and dh for a good result there. Will be loading more items on ebay this weekend, my orders from Kl are tremendous. I am just about to put them on the computer but the pile is a good inch thick. I know there are £30/£40 orders in there, so if its over £500 for half a week pick up I will be very grateful to my guardian angel somewhere out there. Am going to get organised for next year and have a sealed pot for the odd change for Xmas, and just a pot for odd change to put toward debt. Another customer gave me £5 yesterday as an Xmas pressie, so thats £10 so far. How lovely is that in these difficult times. She wouldn't let me decline! So, the £10 will be going toward a debt. Off to start the day and execute my plan which includes a trip to the gym!, and please let my clock sell today at a good price!
