  • Hi Miss Elvis, thanx for your words of encouragement. I dont usually get on here in the am, however have been working from home thus far, and am feeling a bit emotional today. Leg is v sore after fall yesterday, got My DD late to school, need to go out to do some work in a bit, and then later this afternoon, but otherwise plan to stay at home doing what I can re work - always lots to do -and rest a bit in the process. Couldn't sleep well last eve either so tired too. That said, checked my finances earlier, Paid £212.92 off mortgage after interest this month, now owe £126545.40 mortgage (Inc a secured loan) and have paid off £2251.48 to date this year. Also really pleased to see the bal went down £16k since DD born - shes 6 now. So, am pleased about that. (House is worth in region of £160K)

    Plan
    1. To get through today and tick off as much off my to do list as poss. Will take extra care with walking, have my walking stick with me today just in case!
    2. Early night tonite.
    3. Get through tom and fri as best as can, try to get everything done so don't need to work with DD on Sat.
    4. Weekend - have some good time with DD, maybe bake some cakes together, she loves cooking!, do some housework, business paperwork and catch up with invoices etc
    5. Sort out finances and where I am for between now and the end of the month.
    6. Work on staying positive, started a great self dev book on leadership skills with my business in mind. Excellent stuff so far so will get into that.

Thank you to all of you following this diary for your support and help. It really is a godsend to know this journey to DF is not one taken alone. Back to work...

  • It took all of me to work through this last week. My leg is a lot better. However if I am honest which a diary needs to be it set me back a bit and the self doubt started once more. Self doubt is in truth always bubbling away under the surface. Am I mad to think I can be successful with my challenges, and build my business and be DF and look after my DD well along the way? Will I ever be DF?. Will I keep the house? Will I be able to look after My DD both practically and financially? Can I achieve my business goals? Yes, Yes, Yes I have been telling myself! You will be ok, you are ok, stop feeling sorry for yourself and get back out there. I smile at the conversations I have with myself in my head!

Good news - my DD had a fantastic report from school. Am so proud of her and to celebrate we made some sausage rolls! She loves cooking with me and loves rolling out the pastry! It's the simplest of moments that make parenthood such a wonderful thing. Oh I love her so much, what a blessing she is, how grateful I am that she is here, and I am her mum.

Have achieved quite a bit this weekend. Sat needed to work with DD but it went ok. She was v good, understands that it has to be done and why. Also did some housework and clearing up that had needed doing for ages. Whilst DD played with her friend in the garden today I have:
    1. Sorted out my finances.
    2. Completed the booking form for DD for the holiday club for the days I need it.
    3. Set my business targets for the coming 4 weeks to ensure I earn more than I need to to get ahead of myself. Suffice to say positive and focused is where I need to be so am continually working on my attitude!
    4. Written my letter to Halifax req dup s/s re bank charges claim.
    5. Caught up with my emails.
    6. Defined what I need to get set up on my website re my bus and will do this over the course of this week.
    7. Other administritive bits.
    8. Completed my to do list for tomorrow.
    9. Cooked a lovely roast chicken and have enough chicken for two more meals this week.
    10. DD completed her homework today as opposed to first thing mon am! And her dinner money is ready. Wow, wonders wil never cease! I must be getting organised for success!

Off to bed now and visualising a very productive week for the finances. looking at my goal board more than ever. I will not allow the fall to set me back, I will get to where I want to be and it's as simple as that. It WILL happen.

Glad you had such a productive weekend and your leg is a lot better. You coped with that set back extremely well!

Lovely news about your daughter too. I have every confidence you will achieve your goals.

All the best for this week too, sending postive vibes.

  • Thank you Scrooge. Having a bit of a tearful one today and its only 9.30am. Off to work, and once I get myself involved with my tasks, I will feel more in control of things, I will feel like Im getting somewhere with all the effort! All will be well Im telling myself. Its a lovely sunny day, and there is much to be grateful for. Off I go to build my business! Go for it!!

  • Well, feeling much more on track and together since last entry. I did get myself really low, I don't know whether anyone would know the frustrations of being a disabled person in this country who is working as opposed to being on incapacity benefits, and is a single parent without anyone in the home to lean on other than your 6 year old DD!. When ever I have a fall I just realise that Ican not kid myself Im "normal". Its a very vulnerable feeling. My disability is a result of a whooping cough jab when I was 6 months old, yes, we do exist people like me - vaccine damage babies - although I really sometimes wonder if the govt would rather forget we do!!! Have never qualified for compensation, and in fact the last time the Medical office wrote to me to say I could try again which I did, they replied by telling me they had lost my medical notes relating to when it happened -and so that was that. I never followed it through because I just couldn't bear the hassle and the upset it would cause me and my parents bringing it all back for them and then my DD was born, and my husbands situation occured anyway and then I felt so grateful for everything as he had lost his life, bless him and in those moments you realise life is worth so much more than material things. So, whilst I enjoy my business and being independent, help out there for me re my disability is only really available if I was to be on Incapacity benefit. So, I would have to give up work in order to receive practical assistance. The very help which would be fab in order for me to work without feeling as tired as I get. Ironic that its available only if you do not work! To me, its like saying to me I would have to forfeit my right to choose, its discrimination going the other way in my view so I carry on working and do without. Although of course, I have been very blessed with support from a local charity who as Ive said funded a stairlift for me and so I am very grateful to them and grateful for everything they offer in the form of support with advice etc.

Sorry for the long post, but I just want this diary to be a true reflection of my thinking during this DFW time of my life just for the record. The way I think and feel effects my ability to work, my attitude, everything, and I want to retain it for myself to later on see for myself how far Ive come as I ensure my life becomes less and less stressful as I reduce my debts and grow my business..

Moving on, DD breaks up from school next tues, and Ive decided to take each week as it comes for the duration of summer. Plan each week according to what needs to get done, and ensuring the school hols are nice for DD too.

Really chuffed with myself as I have today negotiated a £37 a month decrease in my gas and electricity bills. Also working on increasing my sales targets in my business, and this week so far the results are v pleasing. Feeling v confident that the targets Ive set are achievable.

Am focusing on the progress Im making as opposed to the climb ahead repaying debt, and so far this month have reduced my debt by £775.86, and since my LBM, the debt has reduced by £2011.81. This does include my mortgage repayments which I include in my overall debt. Just need to sum up the confidence to lay all the figures bare on here, really admire those who do, I am working on feeling comfortable with doing so.

Anyway, need to do some tel calls and sort out DD and so will leave it there for now. The diaries on this forum are a huge help and inspiration. Thank you.

  • Couldn't resist adding another entry today before getting back to work. Am just so so excited right now! Spent last half hour or so updating my Happiness and Health, Success and Wealth folder! Don't quite know how but already Im £305.26 ahead of my Snowball plan. Have paid off an overall final total this month (June to July) of £836.17 with mortgage included in that. Have worked out that once cr card debt gone, will pay that repayment money into mortgage and it will only take me 2/3 further years to be completely DF, own our home completely. And thats not taking into account the growth I intend to have in my business, and obviously with that growth more available funds to pay off the debt. Just how fantastic is that! Just so excited and pleased. Re my business, am targeting personal sales of £1000 per week, so far my sales are £778, so very near to this. Have more sales to get today hopefully so feel I am on track to reach this. Had some very positive business calls last eve too, so feeling once more that all is well, and will continue to be so. A guardian angel is looking over me and my DD, my DH I think! that's how Im feeling today! The goals on my goal board are one step nearer to happening!

Off to work, and feeling good, a lovely sunny day at the mo!

  • Start of new week looming! Business targets last week Sales £1K, achieved £975, really pleased, should make up £25 this coming week. Target again £1K plus £25=£1025!. DD breaks up on tues, hoping that the work plan on the days shes with me goes according to plan. Have sorted it so that we work in the am, take a picnic out with us and do something nice together in the afternoon, then while she plays with friends here I carry on working at home! Thank god for what I am doing work wise. My own boss and so flexible, and it's working, paying the bills! I remind myself me and DD are so doing ok, we are hanging in there. Not given up! Really working hard on my attitude and self belief so I can really make good headway in my business and our life as mum and DD.!

Finances are nevertheless a bit tight at mo. However, still spent £9.99 on a scooter for DD today. Why didn't I just tell my DD I would buy it next week, but no bought it today!? Justified it as it would help to have and is transportable for days out during summer hols. Otherwise its all money to my account for my mortgage due on the 28th which then starts the new month of bills. All will be well. I'm determined to keep on top of it. reduce the debt. Its reducing thats the main thing. If I can, no correction, I will keep on top of my SOA and snowball plan and I'll be ok. Am ready to embrace this next week and take each day as it comes, ensuring I work my plan as well as I can!
