  • Well, maybe I have a brain after all somewhere in this head of mine. Have recd a letter from the Halifax this am regarding my letter to them asking them to refund my bank charges. In my letter to them I quoted the Disability Discrimination Act, The Human Rights Act and something else Icant remember, but they clearly think I have a third party advising me, working on my behalf which is not the case at all. Whilst obviously with regard to my disability I do want to treated the same as anyone else, the fact remains that when I havefallen over in the past I have been bed ridden and my point in raising the various Acts is that it states "reasonable adjustments" should be made. so with all the will in the world I just can not get to the bank if Im in bed unable to walk, and what happened is I would call the bank to explain and they would just say I would be charged regardless. Or in the case of my dh situation I raised the issue that if Im dealing with the press or the trial or the police or the family liasson officer I can not get to 2 places at once. Basically their attitude was hard luck. They were extreme circumstances that made it v difficult to be the perfection they wanted me to be.

Anyway, they are dealing with my complaint, will see what unfolds.

  • Ok, getting back on the straight and narrow this week. The dd that bounced that I forgot about has gone out today so all well there, back to being upstraight with that Co.
Totalled my spending diary yesterday for this month and it fell below my budget of £550 - to inc business expenses, childcare, petrol, food, incidentals. it came to £523.81. Ive set my budget for this month at £475 just for the challenge!
Had a busy but v productive weekend. Made some cookies, cakes, sausage rolls as opposed to buying them for dd and my lunch over the coming days. Got the tyres sorted, some paperwork done, washing, ironing, the usual get up straight for the week stuff. Faxed MBNA to get last weeks error resolved. Pictures not yet on Ebay but need some help and a friend has offered to do that prob this weekend. I have 12 pictures by one artist, all limited editions and I reckon each could fetch £200 approx judging by what they go for unframed and framed on ebay and other sites, waiting to value three others by another wellknown contemporary artist, again all limited editions, they could fetch considerably more. Breaks my heart selling them, but that feeling of elation to be debt free and financially free is so so wanted by me! There will come a time when I can buy them back with cash!
Also, still waiting for auctioneers to contact me, hopeful furniture will bring in at least £1500 and Egg still need to take their money. Have another order to go through re my business and just about to email 25 prospects before I go out to collect more orders, do some deliveries, tel calls, and then dd back after school club later. So a lot on, but this is where I need to be. Proactive and taking charge of this situation. We - my dd and me - will get there!

  • I will have to contact Egg by tel today. Clearly they take no notice of emails to them.I received a secure message from them telling me Im with their Collections Dept! Why Ive asked them by email as I can not tel them til later this am. I have already explained to them on the tel and by email that the dd wasn't paid due to the error of another Co. Does that deserve a transfer to Collections? The money has been waiting for them to take since last week, and they still haven't taken the payt. Am so fed up of this. Its so draining. You try, and its never good enough. I will geton the tel to them later this am. I have an appt at 9.15 but can come back home before working to do that, but I will be giving them a piece of my mind. Its all unnecessary time out of the day. Time is money. I do not want to be delayingmy work, and then have to work later with dd. Its just all madness this situation. Ive sent them 4 emails, none of the detail has been responded to whatsoever. And Ive tel them once. Theres no point in doing your best.Where does it get you. Just a load of stress and upset, and Im just fed up with it all. I want to run away.

Sending you positive thoughts re Egg. Don't let them bully you on the phone this morning. Deep breath calm assertive...
I'm no expert but I think it's better if you can get stuff in writing than email . Emails so easy to get lost/get read out of context.
    Keep at it.

  • Hypno has suffered this type of incompetence with Egg, its really awful that their service is so lacking and unprofessional! I know Hypno complained about getting incorrect inofrmation put on her credit file and it was sorted but its just the kind of thing you shouldn't have to be fighting when you are spending every spare second working hard to get the money and also worrying about everything! They did compensate Hypno, maybe she could give you some tips on the complaints procedure?

Keep your chin up and keep focussed because although you should not have to go through sorting this out, the fact is you can do it, so do your stuff and sort them out x
  • Thank you so much DF and KM! Im reporting with update.

    1. Egg told me that their Collections Dept is not a debt recovery unit which is what I presumed it to be. They are in the process of taking the dd a second time and it will be debited from my acount by friday. If it isn't then Im to double check with them and make the payt on my debit card over the tel. They have assured me this incident does not effect my credit rating with them.
    2. I queried the interest rate increase they propose to load on my acc next month. They have told me that if Im prepared to cancel my card they will keep the rate as it stands. This I have opted to do. Feels very liberating actually. Have destroyed the card and so thats it. This is perhaps a turning point for me so trying to think good things.

Keeping my eyes peeled for a response from MBNA re the charges they told me they would refund regarding the whole incident. Still waiting!

Other news quickly. Contacted the auctioneers. Am set to sell my furniture. They should fetch somewhere between £1400K and £2K and they are giving me a favourable rate of commission which is very kind of them. Do I have that look of desperation I wonder, or is my situation just in reality one of a nightmare to other people!!! Or maybe its just that he is a kind man! He's coming by in the next hour to take the pieces with him. Sending a prayer to my gran to say sorry, however, I know she will understand that I am doing this for dd and my future, for our health and well being, and I need to be grateful I have them in the first place to sell. Thank you gran. So much.

Thats it for now. Need to do some work for a bit, keep myself together, address this headache Ive given myself with a nice cuppa! Get on with building my business.

Well done, PaF, particularly regarding the Egg interest rate. I'm being a bit lazy today, so you are shaming me into getting something done. Post office here I come, then e-mails to be sent and housework to be done. Get on with it, Pickle!

  • Furniture has gone with antique dealer man! It will be a while before the majority of money from the sale comes through, he wants to put the clock in a specialist sale which takes place on the 4th Nov. The point is the wheels are in motion. Little steps are being made to drastically get a hold of the debt.

Am setting my alarm for 11pm, still need to prepare for tom - a busy day work wise - and do the washing up. I do not want to fall asleep in the chair tnight. Its starting to become a nightly occurence again. I think a week has passed since I went to bed at a decent time!

Its the thinking about money and dealing with the finances all the time that I find stressful, and it drains me so much, I allow it to make me even more tired than usual. Never mind, better to be busy than not. Recd a top single order of £275 today from a customer. Fantastic. Like to think a guardian angel somewhere is saying it will all be ok!!! as long as I stay proactive the business and work is there to be had, and I am intent on securing the orders to secure the income to pay the bills. Still lots of prospects to call, am behind with that but will catch up tom and fri.

Back to getting the chores done and then bed!

  • Well done PAF, you just keep going despite the set-backs.

It's going to get easier once the furniture and pictures sell, and the Christmas sales hit, just got to keep hanging in there in the mean time. I know you will.

Hope you get into your bed tonight, the alarm clock sounds like a great idea.
