  • I'm glad you are going to consider it, obviously it will help physically but don't underestimate the mental peace of mind too which is invaluable.

Just a thought is there no charity that can help you re some kind of bath lift/support? Also are you not entitled to get a walk in shower and seat too because of your disabilities?

If its something you need/want then maybe you could ask on another board for advice.

    T%otally agree~what a great idea from KM :)
Dis I read you were going to have an OT assessment done soon~if so hold fire on shower meantime & see what they suggest.
I was fortunate enough to have bath taken out & wet room installed.
Someone else I know has retained their bath & has a wet floor area too with the shower.

  • Well, what a time its been since my last post. I did something to my back and I thought I knew what pain was but I do not recall being in as much pain as came to be. My entire left leg which ismy disabled leg and lower back were effected. Dear dd had to help me with everything and I mean everything getting up and washed. I was so late getting her to school the day it all started but I got her there eventually, went to the doc who couldn't see me until tom and so in the meantime I've been taking co codomol which is m,ost unlike me as Im not usually a pain relief person but needs must. I was desperate. Today Im feeling more myself having rested the entire weekend doing the bare minimum re washing dd's school uniform and getting the supper etc.
So anyway other news, went to a parent evening and was so pleased to hear from dd's teacher how well she is doing. I'm so proud of her. Then dd and one of her friends went in for a talent competition at school in aid of Children in Need and got to the final which was held in school hours so that was great. Have heard from my mum via text effectively reprimanding me for not attending the talent show final or telling her about it so there was family cheering on dd but she does not know the full story and presumably has been told through the grapevine I wasn't there. I have chosen not to respond to her as I would just blow my top. For a start we didn't know dd was in the final until the day before the final was taking place. Anyway, there was nothing sinister about it all, lots of other parents couldn't make arrangements at such late notice to attend and my plan was to attend if time allowed. Dd completely understood that if I was not there it was not that I didn't want to be and her friend who was also performing was in the same boat too.

So, finances are ticking over, all bills up to date, still waiting to hear from the Halifax re the settlement but otherwise all ok. Prior to the pain situation sales have been going incredibly well and I am confident that assuming Im over the worst I can keep going and acquire a higher bonus from my sales. Onwards and upwards...

Oh you poor thing. How did you do it? Not getting out of the bath I hope, (given what you said in your previous post)? Well done to your dd both for the talent show and being such a star with helping you.

  • Well, lots to report back! Am in a much better way than I was this time last week. The doc prescribed me anti inflammatory tablets and they are doing their thing. I ache periodically but its not the pain I had. Also shes refering me for physio which I am happy about as I want to prevent it happening again, keep my back as strong as can be and hopefully resolve some of the other issues that have been ongoing as a result of my last fall. Social Care came round on Weds, the man made lots of suggestions, specifically a hand rail in my bedroom, and in my lounge, a bath lift and applying for a grant to install a shower together with hand rails and stool with fixings to keep it all secure so I dont fall in there. I still keep my bath so while I still can have baths I can continue to enjoy long soaks in warm water! So , its all fantastic and very practically helpful stuff that will make a massive difference.

Re business, narrowly missed the higher bonus, such a shame but circumstances are as they are. I still earnt £160 more than my usual target so thats good and I will be going to all my customers between next Tuesday and the Monday, 17th December to ensure pre Xmas delivery and I am hopeful of doing very well in that time. Dd is earning money this weekend starting on preparing our customer christmas cards!!!

Yes, dd has been such a wonderful little girl. We sat on her bed last night and had a lovely chat. She is really hurting still about her daddy. She may have been only 10 months when it happened but I can feel the ache in her soul of how she wants him to be here and cuddle and talk to her, to just see him. and hear his voice. I just feel I need to be aware of it and do all I can to keep her feeling good about herself and that its all going to be ok as I know she worries about me aswell. I can't wait for Xmas and her birthday as I know she is looking forward to us having Xmas day together and I can't wait to see her face when she sees her present !Also, she is in the process of starting a "Goal Board", I have to smile as that is definately my influence and I got the "bug" from Kleeneze. Every year I set myself 1, 3, 5 and 10 year goals. I have to say somehow by writing them down it does focus your mind, and certainly when I look at my 1 year goals for this year the vast majority have been achieved so it does work. I would recommend it not least because it helps keeps hope and positiveness alive.!

Anyway, thats me for now! Onward and upward!

Wow - you sound so so positive and reading ur post I could literall feel the energy and the positivity literally just jumps out.

I can see where your coming from re DD, today DD asked about her father, shes never met him, and asked how we met and why did he disppear and let her down etc, in a way it was odd more from the fact shes never seen him just had a few letters.
