Oh Bails
(Huuuuggggggs) I can't believe the tenant would do that after taking it so quickly as a fully furnished
I don't know what it's like round you, but up here furnished rentals are very few and far between !!!!Cheryl0 -
Thanks CW. Yes, they are here too, the letting agent assures me it really won't be a problem to relet it. I hope so or I'll be living on thin air! Apparently she had to fly back to Africa very suddenly; I'd only spoken to her yesterday and arranged for my dad to bring her stuff round.
Does anyone have any idea how I can find some interest rates on guarantor mortgages, seem to be drawing a complete blank? Thanks.

Thanks.
gutted for you re rental:(
Thanks for kind words re OH: I think the best bit is the boost to his very flagging self esteem - it's good to see him so happy to be wanted.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
GOOD LUCK tomorrow, SL
Congratulations, well done, sorry and commiserations where due.
Bails, you must be gutted at the prospective tenant pulling out at the last minute but hopefully you'll find a new, much more reliable one, very soon and get the lease signed, sealed and delivered asap.
As for frugal meets, anything I attend has to be casual, but I now prefer the term 'eco-chic' after hearing it used by Harvey & John in 'Build a New Life in the Country'. It's much nicer than shabby chic, don't you think? Besides, toffs are careless, I'll be careful not to break a heel or a well manicured nail whilst scrambling over the rocks to my tent tent. :rotfl: Champers, anyone?(OK, so it's homemade elderflower, but if I decant it into a Bollinger bottle, who'd have the nerve to comment at a big social event? :rotfl:) Now, all this talk has confused my addled brain, whose fault is it I have combined 'prime minister', 'high heels' and 'bloke in drag'?:rotfl:
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Bails - what a nightmare
I'm so sorry about the tenant (hope she's ok, it all sounds scarily sudden). Hope BB will be able to help, if not, I have a very friendly mortgage advisor who's always been great in helping me with my delicate applications. Sorry also about the cottage, when you come back from your trip, hopefully there'll be an even more amazingly gorgeous place, I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Nyk - I didn't notice the link before, what little cheeky sheep you have up there.
I loved that new life in the country too, it's a long way from Brighton though, BB - fancy sharing the driving? DD's desperate to go camping or caravanning, not sure why....and what nicer place than an awesome bit of Scotland!
(Dumb question - would I go via Arbroath to get there? No idea where Arbroath is but I lived there when I was a very wee bairn and have always fancied going to have a look as the stories I've been told were lovely)0 -
the route planner I use says
West Sussex (I used Bognor Regis, purely 'cos it's the only place name I recognised on the long list it offered me) to the camp site = 708.32 miles
Same journey via Arbroath = 830.35
So it's not really "en-route"

A friend and (£4000 lurker) :hello:in the Orkneys (kirkwall) has offered to host a frugal meet up in the (very very)large garden of her current place if anyone is up for a meet soon. Plenty of room for tents.;)
PS bails - parcel has now been investigated, new gizmos and jars admired and twiddled with so I can now sleep easy0 -
Evening everyone,
I'm just back in, as I went for a new pair of shoes and a handbag after having a hairdo and eyebrows waxed, so an expensive day. All is not lost though as I had a n£xt voucher from christmas, so the bag and shoes were free.:j
Then went into Morris0ns for a couple of things, I need to keep the diet going, I lost 4 pounds today, so better than last week.
I am going to Kirkwall in a couple of weeks with my work. Then DH and I are going camping mid august, I want to go to John O' Groats because you can get the ferry over to the Orkneys for the day from there. You can also go on a mini trip to see the seals and all that stuff, which would be great. I actually fancy having the meet round about Nyk's place just for the central aspect of it for everyone, but harris sounds good as well, I am up for anything as long as it suits most of us.
Thanks everyone for the good luck messages, I really want this job, so fingers and toes crossed. I am so pre-occupied with it, when I went in to look at shoes, I was aware of someone trying on some shoes and I heard her speaking to the assistant, then I sat down and the voice said, hey, are you not talking to me or something? It was a good friend of mine and I didn't even notice her, how observant am I!:rotfl:
I'm going for a wee relax and then off to sleep. Nite all, xx0
