Bails, we had about 450g lentils as we'd used a bit out of the bag, so reduced the quantities slightly and still got 40 burgers...Live on £11k in 20110

We have a baby seagull in a next very close to our new bedroom window. It makes a lot of noise, especially early in the morning (high pitched sqwark every 9 seconds til it bores into your brain). It's not exciting as they are 500 a penny down here. It'll be about a month before it leaves the nest. Still, all par for the course if you choose to live by the sea.
A day to myself today as OH is off saving the planet with vol conservation work. I think I'll paint a book shelf today. This evening, off to a local club to an open mike shortstory telling.
EDIT: ooh, do you think in 5 more posts I might become a Fantastically fervant moneysaving super fan!
We and DS2 have housemartin nests outside our respective bedroom windows, have every year for last 7 years now also have collared doves nesting in one of our treesMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

So we’re empty nesters.

Good luck!OH WOW, I'm so excited!!! (sorry Nyk) We've just found out that I have some voluntary work too! In fact I burst into tearsI'm so happy that I will be working again and doing something truly worthwhile with children who really deserve a fresh chance in life :T:j:T:j
Morning all! It was frustrating not being able to get on last night, especially as about 5 mins after the news about the voluntary work I also heard that the head of the new school that's opening here next April is very interested in hearing from me, especially as she is having lots of staffing issues :T So I've written a draft covering letter, which I need to get a head friend of mine to give the once over as I've lost all confidence in how to write oneand then take it in personally with my CV. Hopefully I'll hear something before we go...
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Nyk,
MIL and aunty cried. They are thrilled. So we've decided it is going to be easier to just let everyone know (but obviously mention that it is still very early days so no guarantee).
No morning sickness at all. I don't remember having it last time either. My only symptoms are swollen, hurting legs (but now I know, I am drinking plenty of water and not having too much problem), and being really tired. I wasn't joking about the afternoon naps. Plus I walked up town today, and then walk back up again later when I realised I'd forgotten my purse! Sign of things to come!
Midwife is on annual leave.
It's feeling unreal now. However, my aunty still has DS' old pram in the loft! We hardly used it before as when DS was 3 months old we moved into an attic flat and couldn't get it up the stairs. I think it has got a wonky wheel but DS will fix that!
I don't want to work anymore. I just want to make lists, and nest, and drift around being happy.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Hope the weather improves CW so you don't get too drenched! Have you got any sandbags for your front door?
Sandbags? Nope! Nothing but towels here
We're not in a 'high risk' area, though i'm told the estate down the hill from us has special 'raft' foundations because they areCheryl0 -
cracking thunderstorm here. The change in weather is entirely cw's fault for buying garden furniture: I seem to remember that from the moment she put the chairs up, that was it...:rotfl:
Hope your GD's kidney problems can be sorted cheryl
Bails - I'll have you anytime, anywhere, anyplace:D.
ram - good luck with tomorrow.
Lynda - thanks for the recipe:TI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Afternoon
Hope your Dad enjoyed his birthday lunch bails. I'm sure the covering letter is amazing
Good luck with the interview tomorrow ram *fingers crossed* for you.
Glad to hear you're feeling ok whitewingI don't want to work anymore. I just want to make lists, and nest, and drift around being happy
Those lentil burgers look lovely Lynda. When the weather improves I shall make them and have a BBQ
I'm still on track to come within budget for this year seeing how we're half way through already! Gosh.In truth I'm £151.24 over what exactly half the budget should be for the first six months but I will stay in budget
Been very manic with the wedding - beginning to wish we'd just eloped - and I haven't been keeping such a trict eye on thingsFor example the BT bill went up last month and I didn't notice and the Sky bill went up £17! and I ignored it Tut tut.
I've not contacted BT to query how they've charged me and put OH on the case of Sky. I promise I will not get so distracted and will check my bills!
Its pouring down here but at least that means I don't have to water the gardenMy potatoes, lettuce, taeberries and peas are doing wonderful
The courgettes however are only producing male flowers
So I'm going to eat them rather than let them go to waste
See you!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Today's "test" was just an ultrasound to record the size of both kidneys so they have records they can refer to. But the last test (a few months ago) seemed to indicate that the op - which was at the end of last July - wasn't a total sucess. Before she was born they thought her left kidney was dead, but tests at a few months showed it to be enlarged - and over the next few years (after one infection after another) it became clear it wasn't draining as well/fast as it should. They finally decided she had a kink in the uretha (sp?), so they operated to remove the kinked section.... but 6 months down the line it seemed the drainage speed hadn't improved as much as they'd have hoped. Next appt with a consultant (the surgical one) is October, so I guess we'll get a better picture of the state of play then - but I'm not sure what they might try next if anythingCheryl0
