OMG, Wookey Hole is just down the road from me, could this be my dream job? :rotfl:Surely the £50,000 is a joke though right? You can't possibly earn that sort of cash for dressing up and casting spells, compared to the very worthwhile jobs out there?

It seems the house is let :T Just checking references and credit checks now. If it's all okay that'll be a big thing off the list, and she wants it for the full term as fully furnished as possible eg DVD player etc etc so that's great! :D My whole trip could be paid for entirely with the rent :j:j

Sending some of my 'good witch' dust your way Whitewing ;)

Mwaaaaaaaaaah.... I can't see the page, am I too late? What's it about?

Good news about the let, Bails - hope it all goes to plan.

Edited in: I G00gled the witch job, now I see what you're all talking about, do you think that cave would be as cold as my last house? Mind you, £50k pro rata might mean minimum wage for 3 people each doing an 8 hour shift per day (3 x 8 = 24 hours @ £5.70 x 365 days = £49,932 + extra for unsociable hours & weekends. :rotfl: Now that's what I call magic! :rotfl:

Got woken up at 6.40 this morning by Arg0s telling me they'd be delivering my cupboard shortly. (I did know I had the early slot).

Should have been a simple day for DH assembling the cupboard, until I decided it would also entail

    moving a desk
    moving 2 filing cabinets
    moving a table
    moving two lamps
    sorting out the stationery area
    moving a bookcase
    rearranging the other bookcase
    washing bedclothes
    freecycling something

and, in the depths of DS' room we even found a shoe rack that we didn't know we had. I needed a shoe rack so that has come out, been cleaned and set up in the hall.

DH wouldn't let me move anything. So I've been supervising, lol!

It's bonkers. The house is in chaos.

I keep getting halfway thro the few jobs that I am permitted to do, and then forgetting and pootling off to something else.

I wish we had never started! (Will be fabulous when it's done though and getting rid of loads of tat).

Hurry up anuty bails, we want to know about the baby, lol!

I know, me too! Sadly I don't have much influence over when it arrives :rotfl:although I did tell my SiL to PUUUUSSSSH! :D By pure coincidence my parents and I are going up to Brum tomorrow anyway so hopefully the timing will be perfect! If she hasn't gone into labour naturally within 48 hours (from midnight last night) they'll induce her so not long to wait anyway! :j

Nice to see you CharliesAngel, how are you? :hello:

Hello, Time is marching on so quickly, it's so interesting to read what everyone is doing. I do keep reading but everything is so complicated I can't think straight to post.

The good news is that I am getting to know people in the village, mainly from school and playgroup (in the next village) and everyone is so friendly and supportive. I'm learning to take any help that is offered which has been a difficult challenge for me. I'm a very independent person normally - self sufficient.

The house is becoming more liveable in parts but I have taken drastic action. I sectioned off the end to make a flat which I can rent out. My dining room and study are now a lounge and kitchen with stairs up from the dining room into a bedroom and bathroom. I've had 'proper' builders in. There was already a door to the outside and all the windows were in the right place. There was already an en-suite bathroom so I have lost the one from the main house but no extra plumbing needed. I just needed building regs for the stairs, not planning permission as there are no structural alterations. Really just putting the stairs and kitchen in. Kitchen is from Wickes. The most expensive was the extra electric meter. I could have used the house one and upped the rent but on balance this way might be easier.

I've picked and given so much fruit away it's unbelievable. People have given me things in return. One friend bought me a jar of coffee as she figured everyone who came for fruit drank mine, another came with a 1/2 gammon joint in return for a mixing bowl full of blackcurrants. Sophiemum I have committed the worst sin lately - I have been sitting down to stir hot jam  My cookery teacher would have a health and safety fit if she saw me, pregnant or not! I am being very careful though.

I have given up with any other DIY by me or others and will have to be happy with what is. The stud walls are up and the plumbing is in for en-suites in every room but fitting in only one (mum's room). There is a 'family' bathroom off my bedroom. My bedroom is emulsion - cream, DS1 and DS2 - share blue and DD1 has pink . I have a tatty old carpet and they still have boards but the thought of moving stuff to do anything about it is too much. Oh, and none have doors :rotfl:

Downstairs is much the same, mainly living in the kitchen.

Have not planted anything else, just enjoying the fruit and waiting for veg. Runner beans seem rubbish this year, they haven't got going at all yet.

I have acquired a cat. It comes everyday to sleep in the birdbath then disappears about teatime. I suspect the owners work all day so I don't mind providing company and it's a free pet for the children. It hid under the table during the storm. I felt sorry for it but it wouldn't come in.

Gosh, I have written too much, must off to bed now before I fall asleep on this settee.

aims for 2014 - grow more fruit and veg, declutter
