I received an e-mail a little while ago asking if I wanted to do this.
I didn't get anything more about it for some time but then was contacted and was sent a parcel. Very excited until I opened it and found just a big block of foam - I thought I had won a prize as it was addressed with my own initials!
A couple of weeks later I had to post on the block to the next recipient.
You get paid at this point. Well worth doing if you get the chance although you do have to go into the PO to do it.0 -

I must say im not overly impressed - particularly for those with no r number - ie magazines and the like of which they seem to be sending more and more.
The letter does say that more information will be coming out about magazines and direct mail for those who receive it on how to better recognize these items and enter dates of receipt online.
Hopefully they will alter the receipt part so we don't have to hang on to items in the future.
I expect we will all get used to the new way fairly quickly once it actually starts properly.0 -

Do you think?
I see numerous questions on here because the rules arent very clear.
So there must be many people who dont look.ask on here who really havent a clue what they should be doing.0 -
I am still somewhat concerned as to how Kantar plan to distinguish the "magazine and direct mail" we receive from the standard junk. I really don't want to have to open every item of junk mail I get on the off chance it is from them, and worse, hold onto it for 3 weeks if it isn't initially listed on the web site.
My mail today serves as illustration to why I'm sceptical of the changes and is pretty typical for me: I received 1 survey letter, 1 survey magazine, 1 personal letter and a piece of junk mail. The junk mail went in the bin unopened, the personal letter I opened over breakfast and the 2 survey items were put next to the computer unopened for when I signed in later on. As it happens, when I went to log them, the magazine wasn't listed, but I knew it was a survey item so I kept hold of it. Earlier this evening, I rechecked the website by which time it had appeared so I was able to log it. In the future I will not be able to make those distinctions, so it will be either open and action all the mail at the same time; which early in the morning I have neither the will nor motivation to do for anything but my "real" mail, or stop doing the survey. Not out of spite for the change or because I don't think the extra effort is worth the "pay" (I still have arround 95% of the stamps they've ever sent me, I'm not in it for the money) It is because I understand myself well enough to know that the junk mail will still be junked immediately, the mail that has a SMART in it will be put by the computer unopened for later logging, and the non-SMART survey mail could end up anywhere but most likely accidentally discarded. So I don't think they would get an accurate picture of RM's efficiency from me any more and that would skew their results.
Of course, this only applies to how I function, I may well be in the minority. The majority may see this as a minor change that has no impact on them and the survey is destined to go from strength to strength. Though I fear if it does it will be without me.

p.s. Apologies: this post turned out longer than I intended, I have been clarifying my own thoughts through the medium of forum postsCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -

I think its a good idea to air your thoughts, I guess their be a few ups and downs while the new system sorts itself out.
I get quite a lot of junk mail from when I had dd (even thou shes now 7) from baby clubs, and insurances when you ring round, fingers crossed it goes smoothly.
I presume that magazines / junk mail etc will have the distinguishing numbers on the envelope. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I still think we need to wait for the extra instructions from Kantar about magazines & direct mail. Only then will you know how easy it will be to identify (or not) these items.
No one really likes change especially if you have a routine set up which suits you. But I think we all just have to give the new way a chance and then make our individual decision as to whether this survey suits us.
If not, I am sure there are other people waiting to try it as we so often see someone asking how they can join.
Just hope I am not the first one on here after the change who finds it impossible after all I have said so far!!!0 -
It should be quite straight forward what is junk and what is survey mail (re- change to own inititals), how often do you get an 'R' number sent to you in the post?, as for smarts, you can feel them through the envelope. Magazines may be a different matter, unless you know you haven't subscribed to a certain magazine you can assume it is survey mail as you are unlikely to get a free mag from a publisher.Like good food and drink?
Try Hotel Chocolat and Baileys.
