Just thought I'd emphasise that I not trying to be the vanguard of a "I'm going to hate the new system" campaign. I will certainly give it a go. However, I won't break my policy of not opening junk mail. It winds me up almost as much as junk phone calls (and I hate junk phone calls to such an extent that if a withheld/unknown number tries to call me it goes straight to answerphone without ringing and I terminated my mobile contract with Orange when their sales staff starting calling it despite my explicit requests for them not to do so. But I digress)
My point, if there ever is one, is that I do the surveys to try and help improve RM's service. The service I get has always been very good and I think this also needs recognition, plus acts as a target for the "bad" areas. At the moment I am doubting my personal commitment to the changes required to continue the survey. The changes may be trivial to many, or even most, people but to me they all seem to involve doing things I don't want to do. If this turns out to be the case, I will, reluctantly, resign: I don't do things half-heartedly. Kantar will easily be able to find a person better suited than me to follow the new regime, so they won't miss me if I go though I will miss them.

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

Since I joined the Mailing and Telephone Preference Service I pretty well never get junk mail, nor junk phone calls. Apart from open leaflets/ the occasional thing to 'The Occupier' which obvioiusly go straight in the fire, post addressed to me personally usually is for me personally so I don't have a problem. Have you thought of joining them? It costs nothing. I also make doubly sure I untick boxes when I order things that say 'Can we let carefully screened organisations know about you?' or whatever. So I get virtually none now.

I'm sure it will all work out in the end and be fine. People often ask questions on here which are perfectly well answered in the training stuff or other online help. It's easy to forget though, and often easier to ask others than to check the instructions. As someone else says, there's always the ever-helpful Joanne.

Starting this involved quite a learning curve, if we managed that then we can surely manage a small change such as this.

Off out now to get a life!!!..........

To be fair if you don't like it or its too much trouble then don't do it. Kantar have a huge waiting list of people who are more than willing to take your place and I am sure if they re-opened application they would soon fill those places of the lost people.
No-one is being forced to do it.

    Interesting post today.

2 letters arrived both with small pieces of white paper on the front with barcodes. I have never noticed this before. Anyone else have them on their post?

I also received a small catalogue addressed to me with my own initials which I was not expecting. On it was one of the numeric references that come up when entering received items. I have e-mailed Kantar to find out if it is a test item or just coincidence.

Those barcoded bits of paper have been appearing on my post for about a year I should think. Not just at home but at work too.

Kantar wrote to us in the recent pack of mailings saying that our real first initial will start to be used on mailings instead of the test initials. Sounds as though this is what has happened in the case of the catalogue you have got. Any way, check what you have received recently to see if you have the notice from Kantar about the change re initials. There's some discussion about this earlier in this thread.
  • Oh. they're not recruiting right now :(

Have just had reply from Kantar and they have not yet started to send out mail with our own initials on so this catalogue has come direct to me.

I was aware about the change with initials but it was the 2 odd things that made me post and also because of the recent discussions on this thread about the change.

Interesting to know you have had the bar codes papers on your mail for some time.

As you can see from my previous post, Kantar have not yet started using our own initials so this catalogue would appear to be junk mail.

Grunnie - to get 10/12 items a day is a tremendous amount of post. Do you fill a lot of things in on-line etc? I do lots comps and get stuff from that but only get maybe 1 or 2 a day.
Also if you don't open any of it you don't know what you might be missing!! ;)

I can't see any problem with the new system - just have to use a bit of commonsense. I think if people keep emailing or ringing Joanne they will get fed up of you and probably the sack will be wielded!

None of us are forced labour so either do it happily or let someone else do it.:)
