well thats what i was told when i called them today, and i initiated the transfer from my NBS online transaction option...so let see what happens.Johnny_Doe wrote: »OK 2 conflicting answers.. I've been told 3 times now that this is not possible and they would only accept my initial 6k and no more from today. This is because they are "over subscribed". Maybe they are lying to me so that I dont deposit more I really don't know anymore.. Could someone else please ring them or email to confirm?
Cheers
also in my online welcome note i printed off it says account needs to be funded within 20days..so even more confusion..although the 20 days started the day the product was launched, not the day one open's an account.
if they do refuse i am sure to hell to pull all my business from them and make some complaints....:p0 -
I am in the same boat.
I have had them tell me on phone that i am ok to top up account till friday. Then i have had an email saying opposite just inital dd (following an email question i sent).
I set up a dd when opened account on the tuesday before account was closed for 8k.
Trying to add extra 30k which i have taken from another account by the slower over the phone way. I did this on friday and it is still floating in my account. So who knows whats happening?0 -
I think my wife's got a regular saver account with them, which we are probably going to bin when it reaches its anniversary as rates have fallen whilst fixed rates elsewhere have not. It was good while it lasted, but its time has gone.Sorry yes I did mean useful.
:rotfl:
Thank you, hopefully I should be in good hands, all of their vacancies whether junior or senior roles seem to pride the training they give. Can I ask which account you have (and what you think it's like)?0 -
Customers do the same to me at work.I sent them a nice email requesting one of their forms, they replied the next day which is good, but with a blank email with a subject of "[No Subject]" and then just the form attached. That's not great service.
They seem to not understand how to include the text of an e-mail in their reply, and think that a reply saying "That's great. What do I do next" is some how self-explanatory when sent into a company's generic e-mail account. D'oh!
And if I had £1 for every customer who e-mails in from some stupid email address like "donkeybreath@hotmail.com", without mentioning their full name or postcode, and thinks you can work out who they are ...

I have transferred 50k in 10k payments via BACs last week, the last one today via Faster Payments, logged on to NBS website but my account is still showing nil balance.

Rang this morning to be told that they have payments coming in left right and centre and have to manually enter them and to ring tomorrow pm if still not showing in my account.
Not very satisfactory answer really, wanted to be sure that the money had gone to the right place and by Friday.
It seems they don't ever seem to learn that if you offer a good interest rate or deal that they will be overwhelmed and never have enough staff available, so you end up with unhappy customers, making even more phone calls, emails etc to find out what is going on. :rolleyes:0 -
Just send the money and see what happens. Hopefully over the next couple of days I'll know the answer to this. I transferred some money on Friday and today via BACS and faster payments.
2 of Friday's faster payments arrived in their respective accounts today. A third I can't see as the account is missing online - I need to phone Newcastle to get them to add it.
More payments to follow...0 -
But if they had to pay a silly rate because they were desperate for funds, I don't see why they would necessarily have lots of spare staff to deal with the flood.

Forgot a Thursday BACS payment arrived yesterday or today.
The missing account has now appeared but the direct debit for today and a Friday faster payment has not, hopefully it will come tomorrow - 1 day late.
So far nothing has been rejected.

Result!
I applied online for both the bond and the ISA just hours before they discontinued both products. I sent a cheque of £21k for the bond and £3.6k plus transfer form for the ISA, all in the same Freepost envelope on Monday, and just two days later they've received and paid in the cheques and are paying interest on the funds straight away! That's fast.
I was concerned they wouldn't even have them by Friday and then reject payments due to some technicality. That was all nice and easy. Now I just need to open their online saver for convenience. :T0 -
