  • Sourced a Tumble dryer Heater Element from them on 6 Nov. 2010
via AMAZON MARKETPLACE - I wonder if that made all the difference??
Can't remember how long it took, but cant remember any unusual delay. I am now only concerned in that element seems to have given up the ghost after just 2 years? - will have it tested tomorrow before I order again!

You were lucky, not because you went through Amazon but because the 'spares2go' on Amazon is an entirely different company. The Amazon one (the good one) is

    APPLIANCE SPARES 2 GO
    34 Whitby Road
    ELLESMERE PORT
    Wirral
    CH65 8AE

The one we have all had problems with is:

    http://spares2go.co.uk
    2 Go Ltd
    Unit 1 Restharrow
    Bowerwood Road,
    Fordingbridge
    SP6 3BP
    Registered Office:
    36A Station Road
    New Milton
    BH25 6JX
Incorporated in the UK Number 4665213
    VAT GB 803 7103 67.

I am pretty sure they are entirely different companies. There was also a good 'spares2go' on ebay see an earlier post, I think they are unconnected with the one that prompted this thread. It's unfortunate that the name is used by different companies. As a guide though I would not expect to see the spares2go I dealt with on Amazon, Ebay or using PayPal. If they were they would soon be booted off, IMHO.

I've just checked the previous posts and the spares2go on Ebay is the Ellesmere Port one which is also the one on Amazon and NOT the awful spares2go.co.uk clowns who are Southampton/Fordingbridge/New Milton based.
  • My experience with spares2go is as follows:

    On 31/12/12

I ordered a spare part, and received an email from them acknowledging my order.

On the 7/01/12 I received an email telling me that my order was despatched. I never received it for some days then saw the reports on here, which got me worried.

Yesterday Sunday I sent an email to their sales dept. enquiring,

I thought that it may bounce as they were reportedly hard to contact. To my surprise, I had a reply email within an hour confirming that the item was sent.

We exchanged three emails during which I pointed out that if it was sent on the 7th, then today is the 13th, he said there must be a delay with the mail.

I reluctantly agreed to wait a few more days, and then to my surprise and relief, I received the item this morning. All in all a good result. I was not conned at all. I will deal with this firm again.

Not conned at all eh? What was the postmark on the package? If it really was the 7th then Royal Mail took 6 working days. According to Royal Mail "Second Class mail is normally delivered 2/3 working days after posting" which would have been the 10th or 11th. Parcel post is 2 working days which would have been the 10th. I conclude either Royal Mail are lying or Spares2go are, guess where my money is.

You are lucky though at least you got your item. Mind you most customers must do or Spares2go would not be able to carrying on stuffing the rest of us.

    Does it fit?

Bod1467 you may well be right, Spares2go sure have some creative staff, just have a look at their 'testimonials from happy customers' . Or their 'press coverage worth looking at' Both pages made me laugh out loud.

I'm a bit disappointed with the Ellesmere Port company as well, ordered a filter pack for my Vax Swift V-106AA,

According to the picture it should contain

    1 x Pre motor filter
    1 x Post motor filter
    1 x HEPA filter.

    In the pack I received

1 x HEPA filter (that is the wrong size for the cleaner - can't close dust container with it as it's about 1-2mm too tall.

    and

1 x Post motor filter - that doesn't fit where the old post motor filter was.

Clearly these parts are not for the right vacuum cleaner.

I went onto eBay to point out that the parts are not as described and noticed that according to their T&C's I'm supposed to pay to return their wrong items to them.

Well if they try and charge me P&P for returning their defective item I'm going to leave them negative feedback and get PayPal to issue me a full refund, as well as report them to trading standards, don't see why I should be out of pocket due to their incompetence.

I saved 5 quid buying it from them as opposed to eSpares, so if I have to pay postage to return the wrong item it would have been cheaper to order it from eSpares instead

Will let you know how I get on with them in a few days.

I've found whenever I receive the wrong item on ebay suppliers just let you keep it and send the correct one. This is because ebay and paypal are very tight on suppliers - ask them to collect the wrong item or send you a SAE, if it gets to a ebay dispute ebay will rule in your favour.
  • I agree with dbdbdb above; the spares2go to avoid is based in Fordingbridge. To cut a long frustrating story short, I ordered a pressure cooker gasket in August 2012 which I finally received in March 2013. Initially my order tracking said something along the lines that it was out of stock but was on back order. Many months and many emails later I received an email telling me my goods were on their way (this was after I emailed to ask for my money back). It eventually arrived in March 2013. I would not recommend this company as they do not always answer emails and you cannot follow up any queries with a phone call - there is no personal customer service at all.
