I'm waiting for the June LR figures for Suffolk, May went down 1.1%... Just sold my house (got asking price shock horror), can't find anything decent to buy as there's about 50% less properties on the market so less choice. So may rent for a bit - risky if prices start going up? Wish I had a crystal ball.. Good luck to anyone buying/selling it's bl00dy stressful (especially if been on market for 1yr like me)

How much longer can London & the South East prop up the national average?

I hear Wales had the highest rise....?

If I had a crystal ball I'd be playing 'hide the sausage' with the Johanssen twins on my private Bahaman island, not posting on here!

I really hope this fools people into selling and then when we enter winter we will have some decent numbers up for sale ...ps i see Aberdeen had the biggest falls in Scotland..

    Have they?
    Were does it say that?
I use the Registers of Scotland as my source which I believe is the best for my VI area i.e. Aberdeen

    Take a look at this release from 30 March 09 - 22 May 2009
    http://www.ros.gov.uk/public/news/weekly_house_prices/230509_wk8_28day.pdf

It's showing a 10.4% increase up to £170k from £154k, but of course this could be noise on monthly figures

Looking at the 52 week average comparison, Aberdeen is down 5.1%
    http://www.ros.gov.uk/public/news/weekly_house_prices/230509_Wk8_52week.pdf

    The 3 month Q1 09 average is 9.1% lower than the 3 month Q1 08 average
    http://www.ros.gov.uk/pdfs/2009_05_pressrelease.pdf

Still not the worst areas in Scotland when you consider other areas are over 20% down

    Both highly significant.

I know I bang on about how MoM is just noise but up 1/3rd is clearly more than that.

My feeling is that for now at least the economy is moving from absolutely horrible to merely very bad. The rate of decline is falling - that is obvious.

I suspect that things have got the potential to move to gut-wrenchingly terrible quite quickly given the extreme means that are being used just to prop things up. Alternatively we have turned the corner and it'll all be tickety boo from here on in.

I guess as he lives in Scotland he is not really bothered what is happening in Cambridge. I agree about L.R. but I prefer FT myself, ( UK down 15% from peak).

Totally agree but that was the point of the post - mitchaa rightly only cares about happenings in Scotland - if i had followed what was said i would be nicely in NE by now. Not such wise advice to take.

Option B - nice, long but would'nt say cheap at the mo.

Very true, going by the long term average it probably is about the lowest it is going to get though for a long time yet. Certainly no where near enough to be tempted by it. 0.5% BR and 5.5% fixed? No ta.
