The DH of a friend near us has been blowing up almost their entire garden:eek:, making a worse mess than the mole, and only succeeded in killing a mouse:mad:, for which he was soundly told off by everyone! I have seen a knitting pattern somewhere for a mole - what a perfect Christmas present for him!
We were told to pour some wee(it has to be male, apparently!) down one of the holes, to frighten them away. Well, I can tell you that that doesn't work!

Afternoon Everyone
The weather here is very grey and muggy here today but thankfully the forecast thunderstorms havent arrived.I hate thunderstorms:o
My YD is off school at the moment as shes had a temp and feels sick.It must be a bug going round and no doubt the older two will fall ill with it before the week is out
Sunday was MD's First Communion and she wore the dress with the veil this time and she looked fabulous. We had a little party at home afterwards and the kids had a great time
I havent done anything out of the order OS wise just the usual round of washing, cleaning, ironing cooking and baking
MSD-Hi right back at you:T
Pen-Pin you've gone quiet I hope things are all well with you
Bitsy-Dont worry I regularly depress myself when I overspend.I often think you get better at budgetting when you have less money to spend

Hello,
Ravylesley, sorry that litlun is not well. It's not the same when they're not running around wrecking the place is it
Sunnygirl, I can completely sympathise with you, as I live in digs as such and on a wednesday there is a bar that is open til late on camp, and people just stomp down the corridor laughing and shouting at the top of their voices without a care in the world!!! So v annoying, especially if you have hardly slept because it's so hot!
Halight, good luck for Thursday
Bitsy, dont be too hard on yourself, it's only a minor setback in the grand scheme of things really, it's the start of a new month tomorrow.;)
ladyshopper, I hope your friend is ok.
I hope you're all ok, hugs to those of you that need them today and hi to anyone I've missed.
Well I'm back from my camping trip, and it didn't rain at all, which was wonderful, I even managed to get a bit of a tan! :T
Although today being at stinky work when it seems to be about 25 degrees is not fun! Air conditioning seems to be a dirty word here
I really want to finish work so I can start packing, only 1 month until I move to norfolk and start my new job!! :T But im away with work for 2 of those weeks, so how I'm going to find the time to pack up my whole life in that time, I have no idea
OS wise, I have managed to get 2 flowers on my Chillie plant so fingers crossed, and my tommyato plants seem to be doing ok too.
Have a good day everyone.

Afternoon all,
very muggy here, been raining on and off for most of the day,
I was hanging some washing out under the back cover earlier and watched the birds jumping in and out of the bird bath all lined up around the edge, they looked and sounded like a load of kids jumping in a swimming pool :rotfl:
Lunch was crumpets for me and ham rolls for OH, we dont seem to be eating so much lately, I never feel like it when its hot,
Dinner will be chicken tikka with salad, then icecream
Oh has just come back....not happy.....the car needs a new water pump, so its in getting done now hopefully back tonight, thats the good thing about a son who has his own garage, he doesnt usually work on any type of car as he is a VW specialist, but he does OH's car.
Works well its cheaper for us and gives him the business
Off out to a friends tonight for a couple of chilled whitesand a natter.
not read through yet but will do next
(((hugs))) for all in need
Anne

Thanks you for the welcome back, nice to be here , i missed you all!
Donny-Gal -We were at Les Sables d'Olonne, so I think we were sort of in between you and Kathy!
Bitsy - Forgot to send you some (((HUGS())) earlier
Freegan - What will all the Freegans do when food no longer has a "Best before date"? I understand Hilary Benn plans to get rid of them, as so much food is being wasted, as you say.
Pippa S. - :rotfl:at the birds in your bird bath!
missymoo - Good luck with the packing, and with the new job!
Have done 4 loads of washing, so i think that will do for today! I think there's one more machine load, and some bits to do by hand, so they can wait until tomorrow.
There was a big hailstorm here on Saturday evening - DS texted me to tell us about it. I was chatting to my heighbour today and she said it had been terrifying, as the hailstones were really big and she really thought they would break the windows. So I'm quite glad we weren't here for that! On the plus side, it's done an ace job of getting rid of the moss and algae on the patio!:D0 -
Evening all, very warm here all day, its just started to rain now, big drops but falling gently so not sure what will happen.
Chicken, roast veggies, salad and potatoes for dinner...whole kitchen smells lovely, have used the first of the Florence fennel, looking forward to it with onions.
Met my sister-in-law for lunch to-day, which was nice...she and my brother separated years ago but we are good friends.
Meeting my oldest friend on either Thursday or Friday for birthday lunch, seems to get later every year when we have this lunch, doesn't matter when, but haven't seen her for ages so looking forward to the chat.
Hugs to all, hope that you are coping well with heat, good luck to everyone who is job hunting, not an easy task at present for anyone.

Personally, I'd say "Point made. Job done." if all the stores managed their waste responsibly but there are more resources than food to be exploited.
Much of my furniture is made from recycled wood reclaimed from back alleys and skips and looks quite impressive if I say so myself.
My first few computers were found in back alleys before people became scared of identity theft.
It isn't just the stores that are wasteful.
Many affluent families throw out perfectly servicable items expecting the binmen to take them to the landfill without a second thought to the environment.
I've often wondered if there is a business opportunity in the quantities of recyclables that I find (far more than one person can utilise).
I'd just like to see more people thinking of "Reduce, Re-use, Recycle." or as we used to call it "Make do and Mend."0 -

Hi Hun, welcome back, I can't do links im afraid, but if you look on page 2 on Old style, there is a thread named potato farls, on there is Pinks recipe with a slideshow of photos, its really easy to follow and they are delish.

:rotfl::rotfl: that's what we call tomatoes. My DS calls them "matos"
Freegan - sadly my local Sainsbury's bins are locked away so can't get to them. Went late last night to Mr S and they had a whole trolley of little gem lettuce reduced. It's awful the wastage that goes on :mad:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
