    Hi y'all.

I'm just a newbie to these boards but if you want to know how I save money just google my user-name.

Today I'll be checking out the backyards of the shops in the town centre.

Welcome back to Beth and Ivyleaf!

Welcome to Freegan - will google right now!

Forgot to add my OS bit earlier. Dinner is Toulouse sausages, with the inevitable salad and new potatoes. Not very imaginative, I know, but just right for this weather. Pudding will be a cornetto!

    Good morning!

Welcome back to all the returners it's good to 'see' you all & I hope that you've had good breaks :D

Hi to Freegan I've often thought about it but don't know if I'd have the courage to do it IYSWIM :o Good on you though as it's criminal what gets thrown away.

Hot & muggy here with drizzle. It's supposed to clear up later but I've already put the washing on the inside airers - at least it'll be dry by the morning in the heat upstairs  Nobody got much sleep last night with the heat & some VERY inconsiderate neighbours who decided to have a party until 2.30am    Lots of shouting, music & even a fight errupted at 1am. I've complained to the council already and would imagine that I won't be alone. I was very tempted to round up some type of band at 6am & play it very loudly outside their houses :D

Meatballs & spaghetti for tea tonight I've made the meatballs already they're resting in the fridge waiting for the sauce to be made! I've also dusted & hoovered through and cleaned all the windows before it got too hot. A bit of ironing to do tonight and I'm done.

DS2 went away on a mentoring residential trip, to the Lake District, this morning until Thursday evening. He was looking forward to it a lot. He's been a Year 10 mentor this year and is now a senior prefect for next year so they're 'training' the new mentors up. He always enjoys himself and, having been bullied at a different school in Year 7 he understands how other children feel.

Well I seem to have waffled on :o so I'll say ((hugs)) to those needing them and Bitsy Don't beat yourself up it happens to us all. I bet you're in a better position food stock wise than before you started OS too ((hugs)) to you xx

Thanks to everyone for that welcome and for the thanks registered to my post.

    ALERT

Tomorrow (the first of the month) is a big day for finding 'best before end of' consumables in the supermarkets' bins and skips so take a rucksack and clear some space in the freezer.

Remember, you'll be helping to cut down on greenhouse gasses, landfill and airborne fungal and bacterial spores as well as vermin.

So if you get any harrassment be polite and lecture them about climate change etc.
Once they realise that you have a case against them on their lack of social responsibility their attitude softens.
Sometimes they'll leave you alone but if security insists on moving you on offer no resistance.

    ;)

    SunnyGirl,

I once had a neighbour like that so I provoked a complaint from him by playing Motorhead full volume from 9am onward after a particularly late disturbance.

He complained he was trying to sleep.
My response was that if he expects to live his life without regard to other people he should grant them the same courtesy.
    He got the message.

Hi Ivyleaf nice to see you back. Think I must be close to where you were as we are inland from Bayeau/St Lo. My OS today is I have done a load of washing in the camp machine 4,50€ no powder, but I am out for 4 weeks so cannot not do any. The camp site do provide a rotary dryer and clothes line so it is out in the sunshine.
Please keep your fingers crossed on Thursday for my DS he has reached the 3rd interview stage for a job.

Phew its hot, mind you I have been busy, made 2 x lasagne and a fish pie, peeled and blanched a load of carrots and a cabbage, and have frozen them, easy then for when I am in a rush.

Done three loads of washing including dd's quilt, which was dry in about an hour :T, have left it on the line though to get the air.

Best of all :D I have made Pink's potato bread, I made 16 individual pieces, had 2 for lunch with a fried egg, and have frozen the rest, they were delish :T, is you have not tried them you should do so, its very easy and they are luuuuvvvverrrrly :D

    Welcome to freegan.

Welcome back Ivy and Beth xx

And good luck to all those with interviews.

Think I have earned a rest for an hour, and maybe a game of scrabble on facebook :T
