Morning all!
Bargainbird - hope everything goes ok with the loft! My DH has flown pigeons since he was a boy and I help him out with training, wing stamping and giving them the odd pill. Its very exciting waiting for them to get home from a race.
Haribo - beautiful garden and a wonderful location but I couldn't cope with your wildlife:eek: I have a phobia and felt sick looking at a couple of your toad/frog pictures_pale_ we have a fair bit of wildlife in our garden too - frogs/toads/newts/grass snakes occasionally and it spoils my love of gardening. On the plus side we have lots of birds too.
PP - hope you're feeling ok today x
2 days off now!:j:j:j
DS2 thinks the interview went well, he'll know in a couple of days.
plans for today
washing
cleaning
making quorn cottage pies
recycling a lot of wood and branches from the garden
popping to the library
thats it for now
hope you all cope ok in the heat xDo what you love :happyhear0 -

Morning all.
Thanks for the warning about the wildlife pics Haribo, I didnt look! OMG at Taplady and your wildlife, I'm even more phobic about snakes. Can't even look at pictures of them I'm that bad.
Got to get some cream today to whip up and put in a sponge cake. Its the childrens Great Grandad's 81st birthday today, so DD made him a cake last night whilst her brother was at scouts. One half came out the tin fine, the half left quite a bit behind, so I'm going to glue it all together with jam and cream!!
Other than that not a lot going on. Also need to pop to garden centre to pick up a voucher for Great Grandads birthday. He does love his garden and not sure what else to get him!
Also going to see a friend who was in a car crash last week. Not a serious one, but she has whiplash and is in quite a bit of pain.
Later its the usual Mum taxi, DD has swimming training then scouts, so its a late night for them as scouts doesnt finish til 9. They are doing their athletics badge tonight, so hopefully it cools down a bit by then!
Have a good day everyone and stay nice and cool.0 -
Morning all.Its overcast here today and rained in the night-guess who left the lounger cushions out?:o
DS1 said his interview went OK,but they said they are interviewing quite a lot of people,as many as they can fit in.He is in contact with another company too,who sent him a mock design brief to complete asap,to see what he can do ,so something may turn up.He still hasnt been paid for some freelance he did a good couple of months ago. (not for the same people)
I think I'll make a quiche for tea, they all enjoyed it last time, and we can eat more salad leaves from the garden.I dont know whether to put any washing in when I cant hang it out,not got much as there has been a washing marathon in the Red household in the past few days.
Diva, glad you got your font back to normal
Haribo,as everyone else said, great garden-you must work at it very hard, and what a fantastic spot.
Right better take the dog out,and it sounds like some bins have been emptied.Every other week we have 4 different ones...and a long drive to pull them uphill when they're full.
Have a great day everyone.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning all
Haven't been here for ages, returned from DB1 in Spain on 22nd had a great time, my cousin arrived at DBs and stayed for 3 days, Haven't seen him in 23yrs. Lots of catching up.
Have cooked 8 chicken quarters and stripped the meat to make a chick & leek pie and a curry, loads left for a salad tonight, DF gave us a basket of hg salad stuff, a thanks for us looking after their house whilst they were on holiday. I'd bought a load y/day. Oh well lots of healthy eating.
I wash and spindry the salad and keep it in a damp pillowcase at the bottom of the fridge, it lasts so much longer, dont know how it works but it does.
Have to go and order doors & windows for the conservatory, luckily for us my Aunt is a Manager at Magnet and can get a staff discount.
Lots of ironing to do but it's gonna have to wait as it's too hot.
I don't know what has been happening to all on here, just hope good news out weighs the bad.
Thank you for the kind emails I've received, you really are loverly peeps.:A0 -
Morning All
Just a quickie to say hi :hello: to you all and to give ((hugs)) :grouphug: to those who'd like one.
HJ - wonderful garden and views, and I don't mind the wild life at all.
Sticky here today with 24C forecast a little cooler but could do with a breeze.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Really hot already here.
DDs have gone off to school or work. DD(20) starts her summer job today which is just down the road so no bus fares to pay.
DH is working from home so will be on hand when carpet fitters arrive around 11 today. I registered on the carpet website and got a free upgrade to a higher grade underlay and the carpet was a very good sale deal so quite pleased with myself. We are getting the stairs, hall landing and two bedrooms done for half the price I thought it would cost.
Trying to motivate myself to tackle the second coat of paint on a very big living room.I will "house doctor" this place if it kills me!!!! Will then get new EA pictures and might improve the description on Rightmove (uninspired to say the least).
Saw an ambulance last night at a neighbours and he left in a wheelchair with an oxygen mask on. He seemed in really good health a few days ago so maybe the heat got to him. It has made me even more determined to move to a more easily kept house as i don't want DH getting ill or stressed once he retires.
Will make sweet potato burgers and spicy pork burgers with salad for tea as have YS pork mince to use up.
hugs to everyone who could use one."This site is addictive!"

:hello:Hello, I'm back too! Had a lovely relaxing time in a caravan on W coast of France, sadly too far North to arrange to visit Mioliere though. The weather was great, had rain twice but both times it was at night and early morning, so by the time we were ready to go out the sun was blazing again. Have somehow managed to come home with a sore throat, but saw doc y'day and she reckons it's viral, so i'm taking ibuprufen. This is the first morning it hasn't felt any worse on waking, so hopefully it'll start to get better now :T
Have been catching up on the last couple of days' threads. tired mum, your DD looks gorgeous! Haribo so does your garden, though in a different way, of coursehalight - Glad the twins' party went well!N9eav - Hope the fishing comp went okay!
betheebee - So glad you had a good time in Spain!
Aussielass - So happy to hear that you have DGS with you atm:)
MSD - Enjoy the test drives! We have to arrange some soon too. A local Ford dealer is offering a C-MAX with no advance payment, but of course that will be the manual version and DH needs an automatic.
Elona - I bet the house will look so good with the new carpets etc that you won't want to move!
Penny-Pincher - Sorry you've evidently feeling really rough, hope today will be better :kisses3:
We brought loads of washing home with us as I didn't want to use the washing machines on the campsite, it was 5 Euro for a wash and 4 Euro to use the dryer which I thought was a bit dear, even though it included a little packet of washing powder. The airer at the caravan wasn't big enough to dry much at a time. I washed 3 loads y'day and am on the 2nd today so far (bedding this time) and I have some tops which will need to be handwashed.
Other than that, we are gradually getting the last of the holiday stuff put away where it belongs. Doing a bit at a time, as it's so hot. As for dinner, i haven't a clue what we're having - something with something, as Pooky said:rotfl:Going to Co-Op later so will probably buy some chicken, or better still a whole one as more economical.
Hope everyone has a good day and doesn't get too hot!0 -
haribo
I think it was DD(20) who convinced him - she saw the sale and said she wondered what the catch was as there was no way carpeting could be that cheap.
The living room carpet has been taken up and instead of new carpet we are sprucing up the original Edwardian floorboards.
Bitsy
DD(20) was really upset she could not get a summer job after trying in Leeds and York but has just started her first day in a summer job just down the road from home. She had given up at the point when the firm phoned her back. Crosssing fingers for you.
bargain bird.
Don't want to pre empt OP but frikadellen from Lidl are a sort of pork burger. I am going to try to make my own tonight."This site is addictive!"
