Narrow escape? - 'Club la Costa'

Have I just had a very narrow escape?
I have been rung very consistently from someone claiming to be from CLC, inviting me to a free week's holiday. When they first rang I explained that we had only recently been to a presentation, but they said that that offer had now expired (which sounds plausible - it was in January) and so they were giving me a second chance.
I checked out the details - they were offering a top-class apartment for up to 6 people for £75 for the week. Just as I was about to give my CC details, common sense kicked in, and I asked what I could do to avoid giving me CC details over the phone to someone who could be anyone, AFAIK.
The salesman gave me a number (in Spain) to call and assured me that it was a CLC number and would be answered as such, but I wasn't prepared to be convinced by this. He said that there is another complicated way to transfer the money, and he would fax me the details. I agreed and gave my work fax. Surprise, surprise, no fax so far.
Have I narrowly avoided having my bank acc emptied  , or have other people successfully completed this deal?

a free holiday..for £75 a week??
alarm bells should have rang when you get a phone call saying "you have won"Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
No, this is the way CLC normally work - and they are a real company, with quite a few posts about them on this site!!! (General consensus is that it's a good 'free' hol if you can stand the sales pitch you have to endure on one afternoon

I was recently sent an invite again, they are getting on my nerves now!
I've heard they are just a big con, but maybe not?"I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
Do a search on this site - other people seem to have had good holidays with them.......Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Got a call from Phoenix Travel this week declaring I had won a holiday for 2 five star accommodation etc for filling in questionnaire at shopping centre. But surprise surprise my partner also got call and so did his work colleague.
Scam I think so !!!No Signature Required ......0 -
I used to work for this company. It makes perfect sense to let you stay there for £75. The apartment would have been empty, you will spend money in the bars and restaurant which they own and they get a chance to sell you a timeshare. Or rather "points" as they are now called.
I presume you have to pay for your own flights.
Have a look, it is a nice place and you will have a good holiday, but if you want to join buy from a reputable timeshare resale org for about a fifth of the price.S!!!!horpe0 -
And to be honest, the only reason they charge £75 by credit card is to qualify the fact that you do have a credit card.S!!!!horpe0

My brother lives on Costa Del Sol and kinda works in the same industry, so, knows all about these people. He says that CLC are what used to be known as TimeShare and now work on a points basis.
If you are hard-faced and know how to say NO (a lot and often), not hand over any details/passports etc etc then yes this will be a cheap holiday, but, he doesn't recommend it."And crawling on the planet's face,
Some insects called the human race,
Lost in time, and lost in space,
And meaning"0 -
The thing is, I don't have any doubts about CLC - seem a respectable company. My worry is that I have no proof that the people who telephoned me WERE actually from CLC, so it seemed a rather dubious prospect to hand over my CC details!!!!!!!!!!!Ex board guide. I have used CLC for 6 years. Have had excellent holidays with my family in Spain and Far East. Watch the salesmen they are sharks. Offer half of what they want for Vacation Points and proceed from there.
