    Hi all,

I just got given one in my change at the pub last night!!! :j

Not sure whether to put it on ebay now (and risk a chargeback), take up the £50 offer or sit on it for a few weeks and see what happens...

theres too many false 20p's in ebay now, I would suspect there must be a better way of selling genuine ones to genuine buyers through some sort of coin club or similar. Going to be hard to stand out from all the people who are either scamming through ebay or just idiots who haven't checked their coins properly.

    good luck either way :)

I wouldn't leave it too long. Once all the publicity dies down the price will probably plummet.

The 2p's from 1983 that were mentioned earlier in the thread now sell for about £500-£600. There were only about 450 of these ever issued - and all in sets so there can't be many loose ones about.

There are reckoned to be 50,000 to 200,000 of the 20p's out there so I'd expect their value to be a lot lower.

I think you need to weigh everything up and make your decision based on that. I have a genuine 20p but feel ebay is far to dodgy at the moment and would prefer to hear some good outcome storys before listing it :D

Good & bad for you -

A friend at work sold 2 on Ebay. Both sold for about £150. One he was paid for straight away, the other one he's still waiting to hear from the winner!

I realise im very negative :D but until the 45 day chargeback period is over I would be expecting to be scammed :o

I hope everybody who has been paid so far have proper buyers and enjoy the money they got for a 20p piece!

don't know if it's been mentioned (too many posts) but the best way to picture a coin to sell would be to shoot it face on, standing up with a mirror behind, showing the reverse. Also, next to the coin place an object as a frame of reference. Most cameras have a macro lens now, so should be able to clearly see date and detail.
