I’d like to join please. I am trying to lose weight and could do with setting myself a goal like this every month to give myself an aim and a reason to try my hardest. I will start from now and give it my best – if I could lose 7lbs in July I would be more than happy!

Am at work now so can’t read through this whole thread but I will have a look when I get home :)

    Hi folks!
Didnt go to the gym this morning, but did 50 situps when I woke up, and another 50 just now. Did some walking around town today too.
Went out for a late lunch as a treat because I got my uni exam results today and Ive passed first year, had chicken tikka masala with rice, but mainly ate the rice with a little bit of sauce. Going ot have salad for dinner to even things out as I still feel very full.
Love to everyone, hope you are all well

    Congrats on your results.

If you still feel very full why are you going to eat a salad?
Eat when you`re hungry and count the cals.
    Good luck:T

lightisfading - I like anonymity too, why do think I'm here? :rotfl: Totally understand where you are coming from babe. Where do you work anyway, is it a small town?

Just your average office building, full of women though who all egg each other on to join these things. I think about half of the staff must be on one diet or another atm (SW, Rosemary Conelly, WW...) .. you can just imagine the conversations :rotfl: I do find it a bit frustrating at times though as I have a LOT to lose so find it a bit embarassing when asked about it ... can't just be me who wants to go hide in a corner when people discuss their weights??

Colleague sat next to me is doing the SW thing and has mainly red days so 'snacks' on meat.. ugh. I'm veggie and have no probs with people who aren't but can't imagine eating that much protein. She has even more 'bad' days than me though which is good for the self esteem :D yes i'm mean! :p

Trying to give myself a kick up the bum today. I seem to have lost my impetus :( and was just in a generally foul mood today so have been really struggling not to comfort eat. I have had rather a lot of snacks (lower cal snacks ie. a WW choc bar rather than a Mars - but snacks all the same!) but thanks to OH making a veggie stew for dinner I think I'm only a couple of points over for today. At least I'm managing to keep the fruit + veg intake up, even if my diet is leaving a lot to be desired atm

Think I will go to bed with my current book - Not On The Label - if that doesn't put me off eating nothing will!

Oh yeah, does anybody have any recommendations for diet (overcoming emotional eating?) or low cal cookery books? bearing in mind I'm veggie - don't buy WW books as they're 95% meat  I have a £20 amazon voucher languishing in my purse :)

Thanks alared, I didn't have the salad in the end, I thought I would get hungry later on but haven't.
Thanks for posting the alcohol calorie chart as well, I'm about to have a look because I have a big reunion night on Monday and don't want to ruin the month with loads of wine or calorie-full cocktails.

ETA Southern comfort and diet lemonade it is then!

    Love carol

Hi all. Not been very good last couple of days. But today is a new day.
    B. Toast and WW Jam
    L. Salad & Tuna with jacket potato
    T. Chicken Curry (should be homemade!) or similar
    Snacks will be fruit.

Lightisfading - I found these books on the Goodhousekeeping website, maybe of help
The Diet Survivor's Handbook: 60 Lessons in Eating, Acceptance and Self-Care
    Body for Life for Women
    Body Intelligence
Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think
It was an article about why we eat and when we eat. Maybe of use to you.
Also, if you go to amazon and type in the search 'emotional eating' loads of books come up, some look very interesting. hth

Now going to clean downstairs, put my ironing away and then into town for some exercise.

    Have a good weekend everyone

  • Hi all

I've been reading your thread but I have not actively joined in as I don't have a lot to lose but I could do with slowly losing a few excess pounds to be comfortable in my clothes.

Anyway the reason for my post is that although I am ok with the meals my problem is the wrong snacks. I have a sweet tooth so I wondered if you lovely dedicated people could give me some tips of what I can eat while watching tv.

I've read some of you eating meringues are they better than a chocolate bar or a bag of crisps?

Thanks, I hope you don't mind me posting.

Hi everyone, it's been a productive time for some of us I hope.
Even for all the exercise and no chocolate I can tell I haven't lost anything at all :o
So I have to push harder t the helm I think.
I'll have to get some sort of fitness dvd now. But it can't be a really fast one due to my buzingas, they're too big and it hurts when I jump about.

It's overpay the mortgage day today so instead of driving into town, about a mile and half, I think I'll walk in. Walking back is another story as it's uphill (and very steep too) all the way......... The heat drives me mad, I love it and hate it at the same time.............
