makes me laugh, all these people on here reckoning they have a 'mule' or two! I bet you all also have a couple of the 2p mules that are in circulation aswell?
Why is that so unlikely? I've been collecting coins for over 25 years - I'm well aware of the occasional errors that slip through, and keep a close eye on my change. Before the small 5p was introduced, I pulled a number of old shillings with silver content from my change. Since there are about 200,000 of these 20p mules in circulation, and people are actively looking for them, is it so surprising that they are being found?
As far as the 2p mules, I assume you mean those from 1983, when "NEW PENCE" was changed to "TWO PENCE". Some were minted with the old reverse and new obverse, so they are dated 1983 but retain the word NEW. Most of these are thought to be from uncirculated sets, and are worth around £400. Sadly, my 1983 uncirculated set doesn't contain one.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
