This happened in my local Sainsburys a few weeks ago. We had popped in later on for some dog food and noticed the fridges were all taped off and empty due to a powercut. The next week we received a £5 off a £5 spend voucher in the post. They must have realised we had been in from our nectar card I suppose

Hi all I have been quiet on here this month, very busy as last month at school. Gone over about £30. Everything just seems to be going up and no real time for lots of home cooking. Also eaten out a lot so that budget is blown too (both hubby and I spend about £100 each a month which is silly isn't it?)
Can I be put down for £300 for August, thanks.0 -
Last shop of month last night so declaring £97 £3 under
Would have been lower but I've decided to do the special k challange so bought cereal milk and snack bars. Hope it will be worth it.
Please put me down for £100 in august need meat chicken and fish for all next month! £100 should do it, can't seem to get lower but can manage £100 at the mo.0 -
We have changed our weekly shop to a Sunday afternoon rather than Thursday evening, which means I am now totally confused as we have also lost receipts  I am estimating the costs as I seem to remember the "round-abouts" figure, they were give or take pennies I think.
I will try to be more organised next month :cool:Love and compassion to all x0 -
Well I've checked up on the receipts and luck has been with me, sort of anyway and I still have £1.90 left so it's nsd's for me till the end of the month. Unless of course I see something I need for less than £1.90
Did buy meat and veg so will be doing bulk cooking and freeze portions to help with next month, never been this low on stock before so will have to use imagination;)

right new week new plan ...sorry i havnt been on been dealing with work etc ...
have decided this week to just lift the money and use it as and when no big shop planned ...i still have stuff left over from last week that needs to be used and i also noted that we change our minds ...so i am going to try and go back to the buying as we need but with the intention of making some batch cooking for just incases
today made some gallo five bean ...i got my friends recipe and adapted it to my own adding nuts mushrooms (had some left over) peppers and other things that were in the fridge that were going out of date ...and left out the salt that she used ...that was a heart attack waiting to happen before ...
this stuff i can refrigerate and used a bit at a time till done ...i also have some scrambled tofu left over from yesterday as i didnt have the day rest from food that i wanted due to no money ...i am so going to do that this week ...i enjoyed doing it and missed it yesterday ...
so will try this out and see how that goes and let you know if this is maybe a way forward for us
incidently we really need to get on top of this as the car really isnt working great at all and needs to go in again ...i am just worried that we need to buy a new one before we can afford it ...yikes
Hi elantan,
As your thread has fallen down to page four on the Old Style board I've added it into the July Grocery challenge thread where you'll get lots of help and support from others trying to reduce their grocery bills. The new challenge for August will be starting later today and you should get lots of inspiration and encouragement from the posters there.
Good luck with cutting back.

Haven't been on here much this month. And it's gone gone wrong! Well over budget. Still have been stockpiling so hopefully will last a few months. Will try harder next month
and keep coming on here to keep me on track, as I only added up all my receipts yesterday!
Will have to think of my target for August. Hoping it'll be warm then I can just buy lettuce and ice cream:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

I am back very shamefacedly because I feel I've totally lost track in July. I'm not exactly sure what's going on but I've lost control over all of my finances and the GC has also suffered. My best guess on what i've spent is £229.52 which is clearly over my £150 budget. And I'd set the budget high to enable me to live within it. Worst thing is that I also need to do a lidl shop, I'm totally out of tinned tomatos. And I've already ordered nearly £50 of stuff from sainsburys for next week.
Got to do better next month if I have any chance of meeting my yearly target.0 -
