Afternoon all, did my final shop for this month today.
Would like to Declare at £216.42 for July, over budget due to OH doing some of the shopping as I have not been able to and also stocking up on offers for future months
Could we be put down for £150 again for August.
For anyone that interested Mr T are selling pre packed broccoli (76p) on BOGOF.
They also are selling the wild alaskan salmon fillets for half price should be £9 but selling for £4.50 but they have changed the amount pieces in a bag.
They used to be 8portions per bag but now only 6 per bag....... they are still putting the 8 portion bags out probably to use the old stock up.
So if anyone plans on buying this then have a look and see if they got any of the 8 portion bags left.... hope this makes sense.'Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle'0 -
Thanks for the heads up on the salmon Carol
That's something I buy when on half price, but was paying £5 for the 8 portion bags (of which I have one bag left in my freezer). £4.50 for 6 makes it a dearer at 75p each instead of 62.5p ( ) so will have to check on Friday if my store has any of the larger ones left........Cheryl0 -
I managed to get the last 2 bags of the 8 portion ones, they were at the front of the freezer with all the 6 portion ones behind it. They still went through the till at £4.50 that works out at 56.2p per portion...so will keep OH and my mum happy for a while'Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle'0

Yes,I live in Mid-Wales and see kites EVERY day, there are 2 that live in trees near our house!
Mrsmc £180 for July please
omg how lucky are you, I would love that, we see loads of things here in Dorset but no red kites.
Didn't know you could freeze mushrooms uncooked, that's great, I usually buy 3 or 4 a week, now I'll buy them in bulk and freeze them, got some peppers but only use a little at a time and then have to throw them away and I so hate waste, can you do the same with them?
As I've just over a £1 left, had a nsd today and may declare tomorrow, doesn't seem much point to wait till the end of the month

I never use more than half a pepper at a time (often only a quarter), but buy a value multi-pack when I see one in Whoopsie and slice/dice the rest of them before bagging and chucking in the freezer (normally in quarter pepper 'portions')

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know that the new Grocery Challenge is up and running for August here
I will unstick the July Challenge now, but please feel free to continue posting in the thread if you are still working on your July budget.
Good luck to everyone taking part in the challenge this month!

Still on July budget until Thursday. Had to spend another £1.11 today on courgettes and single cream - feeding DD1 as well as ourselves until Saturday. Have updated signature and hope to minimise overspend! It seems I am not alone in falling down this month! Well as the song says 'I'm gonna pick myself up, brush myself down and start all over again'... in August!

I've kept evert receipt from July for the GC and I am will tot them up later on today after work and post my total, hoping it comes under budget for the first time! Finger's crossed!!
If it's under budget I'll reduce the August target by a bit.
I haven't posted much on here but I have stuck to the rules to see if I can finally achieve this!
What I have done is look more at the Basics range and I have written my shopping list for the weekend from this range - comes in at under £15 on various groceries when I think it would be around £30 for the alternatives. When I get chance I'm going to compare the price of what I would usually buy and see how the prices compare!
Will still get meat from the butcher so am estimating about £10 on this to freezefinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

Thanks for that, I only have £2.33 left in july budget, bit more than I thought so will go and get some of the broccoli, make some soup and also planning cawliflower cheese, which is nicer when mixed with the broccoli I think.
Will check out the salmon as we love it and can always buy it from the aug budget as can't usually afford it:T:T
