    Afternoon everyone

I have had a busy morning..getting some things used up out of the fridge that were a little "sad" looking -and at the same time making some things for the freezer :D

    So I now have:-
    1. another batch of courgette teabread -the mix made 2 shallow 6" cakes - 1 is cut into 8 and in the box and the other is going in the freezer
    2. a dozen lemon buns -which get better after a couple of days -they get moister -so thats 1 sad old lemon used up and 1 more to go
    3. 3 litres of cream of tomato soup :p-using up the 2kg of toms I got for 58c, the bendy carrots and celery from the fridge and the chicken stock from yesterdays roast
    4. 2 cakes of bread proving in the remoska
Tomorrows mission is to make :-
    1. some more lemon buns -that will be the last lemon gone
    2. orange and poppy seed buns -another one that gets moister when its left -that will use the pot of natural yoghurt that wants using up
    3. I have some leftover mash from yesterday -so I will make some cheese, potato and onion pasties
    4. then Im doing sauted onions, mushrooms, courgettes, with a dollop of marscapone , frozen peas and corn and some leftover chicken -to have on pasta for dinner -so I will make more of the filling and make pasties -that "should" use the last courgette up -but I can see 4 more about ready for fetching off the plant :rotfl:
Im determined to have a "super frugal" month- so I will be working my way through the masses in the freezer ..although I seem to be putting in more than Im taking out right now
    Hope everyone is well....

I know I've not finished my month yet, and I am going to go over, but I was doing a bit of a recap to see where I can trim again next month, and realised that I'd had 11 NSDs this month so far :j - when I'm normally lucky to average 4 or 5 a month - I must be doing something right :D

So far my shopping list to finish the month is a bottle of tomato sauce, a bag of sugar, and 10 x 2l bottles of milk, which comes to about £12. I think I may need a couple of loaves too, and maybe some meat for sandwiches, but hopefully there won't be anything else too scary.

I can use the MrT voucher against the milk, and I should get milk tokens towards the weekend, so will pick up 5 bottles tomorrow, and the rest as late as I can.

First of all, sending hugs your way for what has been a difficult time recently for you /your family / your mum. glad to read your recent post.

Im rather taken by your lemon buns and corgette teabread - can you share the recipes?? also your orange and poppyseed buns? I live in the UK where would i buy poppyseeds because I looked for them for a recipe before but to no avail.

Im pleased to report a NSD today and in fact i am in credit to the tune of £20 odd as I closed a bank account today and collected the balance that was in the account. Its been sat there for ages. It isnt much but I feel like I have won the lottery. I am trying to appreciate the value of money more and 20 pounds is a lot! Im determined for the august grocery challenge. july can be written off as failed miserably. but I have the bit between my teeth now and am determined to do better.

I've bought poppy seeds in a healthfood shop but its not something I buy often so there may be other places too.

Edit: Accorting to mysupermarket - Mr S, T, O and A all sell it too so I imagine any large-ish supermarket will sell them...

right new week new plan ...sorry i havnt been on been dealing with work etc ...

have decided this week to just lift the money and use it as and when no big shop planned ...i still have stuff left over from last week that needs to be used and i also noted that we change our minds ...so i am going to try and go back to the buying as we need but with the intention of making some batch cooking for just incases

today made some gallo five bean ...i got my friends recipe and adapted it to my own adding nuts mushrooms (had some left over) peppers and other things that were in the fridge that were going out of date ...and left out the salt that she used ...that was a heart attack waiting to happen before ...

this stuff i can refrigerate and used a bit at a time till done ...i also have some scrambled tofu left over from yesterday as i didnt have the day rest from food that i wanted due to no money ...i am so going to do that this week ...i enjoyed doing it and missed it yesterday ...

so will try this out and see how that goes and let you know if this is maybe a way forward for us

incidently we really need to get on top of this as the car really isnt working great at all and needs to go in again ...i am just worried that we need to buy a new one before we can afford it ...yikes
