  • 2. chamomile tea for me, rather than buckets of normal tea with lots of milk in :)

Cheery Daff if you like Spearmint and have some in the garden you can make a pot of spearmint tea, let it get cold then put it in the fridge serve it over ice and you have a refreshing and minty drink. Spearmint is a 'cooling' herb, borage is to an excuse for a Pimms if ever there was one! ;) You could always chill your chamomile tea as well, if you use chamomile teabags save them, pop them in the fridge and use to put on your eyes to help refresh them.

I'm drinking chilled moroccan mint and ginger tea at the moment, lots of the herbs teas are nice served cold, you just have to experiment with the best flavours for you :D

  • Get yourself a spray bottle, white vinegar and water from tap. It's greener and quite frankly cleans better than this toxic chemical rubbish they sell.

I agree Bitsy, can I also add that I do this but I tip the vinegar into a jar and add chopped fresh herbs my favourites are lavender, rosemary or lemon verbena or if you have the peel left over from oranges and lemons that you would throw away then use that to make a citrus vinegar, it takes the edge off and you get the benefit of the lovely smell and with most herbs the added antibacterial qualities.

If you use cider vinegar instead of white vinegar you can use the herb vinegar in salad dressings. You need to leave the vinegar for 3 weeks so I tend to make up a batch that will last a few months at a time. Use any herb you like the smell of and you can get in abundance. I keep some lavender vinegar in a spray bottle undiluted that I spray direct on to the worktops to clean does the job nicely. Do not use vinegar if you have any marble work surfaces/chopping boards etc though or they'll melt!

Grrr - had to use £5 of my grocery money to buy sunglasses - I've managed to lose mine and as I drive a lot I need them in this weather, looked around for the cheapest pair and these are decent quality so should last for ages (couldn't buy £1 cheap and nasty ones - just couldn't)

I've decided to completely live off my veg bag and cupboards and freezer this month having had a good rummage. I've got loads of stuff lucking in the back and should provide some new recipies.

Only thing I have to buy is cat food and litter - hello coupons :rotfl:

Looking forward to next month when I don't spend all my money in the first week on a birthday weekend (thought it will be fun)

MrsM :kisses3: Thank you so much you are a star! It does sound very tasty, easy and cheap to make too. I'm going to our local market tomorrow so I'll get hold of some ripe tomatoes to make it with.

I wish we had an Aldi over here! Grapes are £3 in our local shop and DD loves them! No spending yet for me - probably wont until Friday when I do week shop but have to meal plan before I go!!

Just spotted your post, if you know anyone who travels by ferry on the Belfast/Stranraer route, couldn't they pop into Lidl or Aldi and bring you some discounted groceries back with them? I'm forever asking folks to get me bargains that I can't get where I live. Our local LETS group also has several people who travel and they bring back bargains for anyone who orders them. :)

Mrs Moneypenny I agree with you my kids seem to eat much more when they're at home than they do normally  We'll all have to get inventive as the summer holidays wear on! I definitely don't want a repeat of April's challenge when I went way over budget with the Easter hols :o
