    A request for help please people! I have a mild problem with flies - normal black buzzy flies that keep on coming in the house. I think mostly because the back door is always open for the motley collection of animals. Kitchen is the first room so the congregate in there which is pretty grim. I don't like fly spray - not least because the cats eat the dead flys. Last year I ended up with one of those 'charmingly retro' (or just plain hideous depending on your view point) dangly strip things over the door. It did reduce the problem, and kept the chickens out to some degree but just looked awful.

    I invested today in some fly papers as a long shot, but I wondered if there was anything smelly that would ward them off like the spider/conkers thing we had before? Any ideas please. I did search but couldn't find a thread.

    eucalyptus oil sprayed around the door frame and get a long net curtain and hang that instead of those hideous useless strip things ... it works so much better.. right from the top to just off the floor

    Hiya Tootles, good to see you back!

    {Mudbath grumbles to Pigpen about how mean tootles is not letting us count guinea pig and rabbit poos...grumble, grumble, life is so unfair, rant, rave}

    Agree with everything you say tootles...honest! :D

    DD starts a cycle course at school tomorrow. She had a file she had to complete before she starts the course. She was given the file 5 weeks ago. I've reminded her one a week. Has she done any? No, not until to night! She's spent from 3.30 and is still doing it now. I think she's just learnt a lesson in time management!!!

    House quite tidy. I've melted. Early night with fan on all night! Just going to do a quick 'children put everything of yours away right now' challenge. The winner won't get yelled at :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:xx

    my ankle really hurts now, time for good old rest and elevation I think.

    Just what I'm about to do, mine has disappeared since I played tennis in the garden with the kids.

    Just getting some crisps and the hand sewing and then sitting down.
