Small things and small minds - I have opened the patio door from the Playroom, something I rarely do. The boys, dogs and cats are now all playing 'now I am in, now I am out'. Alright till the chickens join in and do unmentionable things on the carpet!

We have visitors at the weekend so I stll need to work on the de-clutter but it is just too hot to bother. Downstairs is ok now anyway, it will just need 30 mins in each room on Saturday. Upstairs is a bit more problematic, my very lovely FIL likes to see what progress we have made, and as an ex builder makes some really useful suggestions but it does mean I have to tidy up there as well.

Soappie - you said about supermarket v butchers meat the other day and I meant so say it is well worth shopping round. I use a mix of two farm shops and two butchers, and the best one is just stunning. He hangs his beef for 28 days and I have never had anything less than an outstanding bit of beef from him, better still his prices are within 10% of the supermarket. Ok, you don't get the special offers but I always regret buying supermarket meat, and I never regret buying his. SL Fisher at Breedon on the Hill for anyone in the Midlands.

  • Happy Wednesday everyone!

Yesterday was madness, I worked in three different schools and I'm not a supply teacher, got home at 8.30.

Hugs to everyone, and happy flying.

Hugs to everyone who needs them and everything crossed for those that need things crossed.

    Toots - I have completed today's list

Hex - I don't need to shop around, the butcher I got the beef from on Sunday is local and is the one I get my game from. First time I'd bought steak from him.

And here's a tale of extraordinary derring-do and bravery

Took DS out to view a couple of properties. We noticed a bumble bee on a cobweb strung between the passenger side mirror and the door. I said to DS to leave it because it'd blow off as we drove along.

But guess what, the brave little spider (and I'm talking small here - about one third the size of the bee) came out from where he was hiding behind the mirror glass and started making the web stronger so he didn't lose his banquet! All at 30mph. By the time we got back, he had it properly secured. I have left it alone. Poor guy, I didn't want him to lose his supper. I wonder how long it will last. I was so impressed I took a picture. See how small he is and how big the bee is!

Soappie, loved the bee photo. I meant that I shopped round till I got the better quality meat at the right price. The farm shop meat near us is great for example but a good third more expensive for similar quality.

Started on the DR but my ankle really hurts now, time for good old rest and elevation I think.

  • Hello all

Not much flying done here in the last few days - but having spent 5 hours in the car yesterday only to be faced with finding the missing library books on my return I was not impressed - in fact I lost my temper with not so DD.

Today still mega hot - 33 was hottest I saw on the car temp thing. Way too hot when I got back to work after my visits at lunch time.

Good news I found 4 books yesterday and the rest tonight when I got in so now making DD go with me to town and post them through the library door tonight. Am then going to Asda to see if can buy a fan for DD's bedroom (it is the box room and gets sun all day)

DD has had an improvement in her temper and has cleaned the bathroom - not finished all the list but it is an improvement....

I've watered the indoor plants, so Monday's extras are now completed. I guess I'd better get that cupboard in the kitchen sorted so that I can claim Tuesday's star. Today's may take a while, as the study has turned into a dumping ground again. On the plus side, the utility and spare rooms which I do on Fridays are in pretty good nick, as is my bedroom, although there are quite a lot of clothes to put away!

ETA - Toots I've cleaned out my kitchen cupboard, so can I have my kitchen star please :D:D:D:D:D

A request for help please people! I have a mild problem with flies - normal black buzzy flies that keep on coming in the house. I think mostly because the back door is always open for the motley collection of animals. Kitchen is the first room so the congregate in there which is pretty grim. I don't like fly spray - not least because the cats eat the dead flys. Last year I ended up with one of those 'charmingly retro' (or just plain hideous depending on your view point) dangly strip things over the door. It did reduce the problem, and kept the chickens out to some degree but just looked awful.

I invested today in some fly papers as a long shot, but I wondered if there was anything smelly that would ward them off like the spider/conkers thing we had before? Any ideas please. I did search but couldn't find a thread.
