    Banks require that you pay the money in one working day before the debits are due. Paying in after 4pm on a Friday for a Monday debit is not doing that.

    this would be true in the old days when bank ledgers were in use (hand written) but now with computerised system i would take less time ie instant so the money should be in your account instantly

    so the bankteller takes your £140 puts it in the till puts the info on the computer then after you have gone takes the £140 out of the till puts it to oneside , takes the deposit off the computer then comes back on monday morning puts your £140 back in the till then re enter the deposit on the computer!!!

    No, the money is credited the following working day so for Saturday, the value date is Monday
