    More questions:

Whats this about Smart Ads? And is this Argos gizmondo a Smart Ads machine?

Does the Gizmondo have to have a smi card in it to work, or can you still use it as a GPS etc without a sim card in?

They had one in my local store, cellophane sealed, they refused to open it so I could see the contents & told me that it is excluded from return, so I left it. I'm happy to pay the £65 but only if it has the software. The box had addons written on it.

I have read that the software is not that fab and that it tends to reroute via town centre's but I suppose at that price you can't complain too much!

Co pilot have dropped support for this product, so if there are any problem's thay ain't gunna help or supply updated maps, but it may be possible to use maps from a normal copilot software, but i'm only speculating.

To the people who get lucky enough to get one with the sat nav software could you please supply info on what the box looked like, was it sealed, any indications on the box basically anything that would help us to pick the box with the sat nav software.

Apparently TomTom were working on some software for this but they dropped it now. The unit will only allow "signed" (basically means the unit is locked and only runs software that gizmondo have authorised) applications to run on it. This means that you cannot run any standard pocket pc software on it. Apparently someone has managed to get around this and a homebrew software scene is starting.

    More questions than answers.

It is referred to as a pda on some sites like CPW, and the old Argos catalogue says it is Microsoft based, but is unclear about most aspects, (except for bluetooth capability), and was the cheapest model around at the time £129.

    be wary, dc

if you use saynoto0870 website and put argos in to the search for alternate numbers it list a lot of the stores landline telephone numbers and you can use that for contacting the stores
